Hi Folks, I don't have a huge DVD collection by any means. probably still under 300 discs. however, what I DO have, is a small house. In an effort to consolidate my wife and I have removed all the discs and put them in binders instead of pearl cases. This has been working fine... BUT I don't...
Yeah Monster is way OVERpriced IMO. we tested our stuff against monster a few months back and we came out equal to or on top across the board. copper and optical. btw, these are the toslinks I use. I don't know if they offer them higher than 12FT http://store.tca-inc.net/toslinkaudio.html
Hey Folks, My wife and I are planning an addon, and the possiblity exists that...... I may be able to creat a movie-dedicated room, a... home theater... if you will. I currently have a 42" plasma, and so I would obviously not but supporting a very large room. but if you were building a home...
Dave, thanks for the post, i like very much what you did down there. and what you did again later. The equipment rack is very similar to what i've been pictures. Also, thanks for posting dementions, thats a huge help! Dustin
lol, no problem it's got a lot of letters... :) thats a good point on the cement/moisture. When I installed the pergo in our current house, it went over hard wood, (80 year old hard wood, was shot, otherwise i'd just try to restor it) but there were directions for cement applications. there...
OK... so my wife and I are getting ready to sell our house and move on to bigger and better things. afterall, it's hard to raise a family in a 1 bedroom :b So as we are perusing the local market we are keeping an eye open for homes with basements. our idea is maybe a 2-3 bedroom upstairs...
hey folks. three of my surround speakers are mounted on walls that face the outdoors... i'd like to run speaker wire under my house, along the siding, and drill holes through the outdoor wall into the living room where these speakers are... thus eliminating the need for me to go into a...
I think this depends on the person. I installed an Onkyo 600W system in my house recently and liked it with the speaker wire that came with it. I finally started doing a clean install and ran Monster 14AWG wire to the sub. a $25 cable just to power one speaker...it's not quite long enough...
very cool thank you for posting, motivational to say the least! I also like the idea of a nice comfy couch in the front row and theater seating in the back.
this was my biggest concern as well. I know that we have a very solid wall in there because we have tried mount pictures and what not and found it to be solid, and i assumed it was 3/4" since that is what i found elsewhere... until i found that tongue and groove. if i find that it is tongue...
I would like to pipe in only to say that I too would be interested in seeing this. my next project includes mounting all electronics in a closet on the opposite of the wall that my t.v. is to be mounted on, so seeing these pics would be great.
no, there are studs in there, they are just harder to locate because of the 3/4". no stud finder will locate them, and you can't do my patended knock test... so unless measurements are perfectly acurate... which i'm sure they are not. one wall in this house actually had 2x6 tongue and groove for...
hi, has anyone installed one of these before? from what i've read they are quite Versatile, intended for 16 or 24" spaced studs. thats all good, but what about 3/4" plywood walls? (doh!). i've recently discovered that EVERY internal wall in my house is construced using 3/4" plywood. if...
I perfer Circuit City because the sales people are not paid commission, from what i've been told. the Customer service was so great one day that i asked because i planned to come back and buy from that particular sales person if indeed they were commission based.
so, my warranty history. I...
rather than starting a new thread on i hope you don't mind if I continute on with what you all have going here. DISH has a DVR for basically $10/month from what i can see. $5/month lease, + $5/month for the service. However, I have a Tivo unit that was used for satellite that a friend who...
well, went to buy the HTS-570 a couple weeks ago but they were sold out. i considered myself lucky because the store demo just didn't sound as exciting as it did before... but last night while listening to some CD's i realized i just had to have something, so i went back to Circuit City...
hi Folks, within the next week or so (preferably as early as this weekend) I want to buy my Surround system. My living room is very small, about 13' by 15' i believe, and our couch + t.v. are all off to on side. Video will be delivered via 42 inches of plasmic bliss, but that is a later phase...
we recently found an RF Remote on clearance at Radio Shack, wouldn't have bought it, but it was a 1/2 price LCD touch screen remote... if the RF works for our equipment, i'm thinking this would help us eliminate interference, right? if not i'll have to check out those others IR systems again...
good to know. i have sources for decent UPS through my company so I may go that route. it will be easy to find a home for anyways if i do end up using the wall mounted rack. thanks guys,
I was going to do this myself. I have helped my father in law do it before and i know it's fairly simple, but wanted to see if anyone can point me towards any DIY sites that go over this in detail? I over research everything before i do anything. Since my entire HT is going to be on this...
just wanted to bounce in here and say thanks to all who have responded so far. this is leading me to believe what i already thought... i need to see the tv in action rather than purchasing based on specs.
hi Guys, my pockets aren't too deep for my new Plasma, so i'm doing some serious shopping. 3000:1 seems to be the average Contrast ratio for EDTV and even some HD. but i saw one that was at 5000 ( i think it was that 42" HD at wal-marts site for $1999). As i'm surfin the web for info...
hi folks, i'm dangerously close to the actual speaker installation stage. finished the new floor this weekend (pergo, actually going to redo 3 planks, but mostly done). my wife is painting this week, then the plasma and speaker install begin. before i get there, I could use some help on...
