*** Official 2008 Oscars Nominations List and Forum Discussion Thread

Big props to Brad Bird and Pixar for Ratatouille. I cannot remember an animated feature with so many nominations in different categories (Beauty and the Beast had 6 but 3 were in the Original Song category). Well deserved recognition for the reigning king of animation.

WGA set to strike - TV Season could be truncated/delayed

That's pretty broad Steve. If Viacom agreed to what Worldwide Pants did, I'm sure the WGA would as well. Of course that would impact much more than just Colbert and Stewart. I'm surprised the union hasn't made a stink about Leno's situation. Although he things he's in the right, the union...

    American Gladiators 2008

If I'm not mistaken, the glads on the old show did different events while here, the same glads appear on the same events. Hell, Crush is hot, but is she the only one who will wrestle on that platform? How unphysical is Hellga anyway? Also I miss the Breakthrough and Conquer.

WGA set to strike - TV Season could be truncated/delayed

After seeing a couple of weeks of "The Daily Show", "The Colbert Report" and "The Tonight Show" I'd be pretty pissed if I were a union member. There is obviously material being written in these shows, especially Leno's still overlong monologues (he memorizes all these jokes every night?) and the...

    Scrubs - Season 7

USA Today looks at the final season which begins tonight. And their critic Robert Bianco gives a cutting review which I, unfortunately, agree with.

The best TV show cars ever

Damn! Forgot to give a shout out to the coolest taxi with the lighted ceiling, sorry Alex Rieger, Ben Baily gets the call with Cash Cab!

The best TV show cars ever

Yes indeed. Here's Peter Falk with a fan and the Peugeot. On the other hand, that car web site you quote starts off with the monster batmobile from the movie and not the stylin' tv show model. Ah well.... But, damn, I forgot the Partridge Family bus and Al Bundy's "Dodge"...

The best TV show cars ever

I don't know why I thought of this--maybe because I just bought a new car--but I thought it would be a good time to discuss the best of TV show cars. Here's my top 10. I guess these are not so much the coolest, but my most memorable: 1. Batmobile (Batman) 2. KITT (Knight Rider) 3. General...

Comedy Central Roast of Flavor Flav

Here's one vote for Lisa Lampanelli! While Kat Williams, Jeff Ross and Carrot Top look like they were at a funeral, Lampanelli just laughed at all the jokes about her. That sense of self-humor makes her all the more palatable. Besides, I think she's really funny

    The Bronx is Burning

This show is the classic example of a 2-hour movie stretched to an 8-hour miniseries.

Me again. Glad to see that this topic has garnered so much interest. I appreciate that some of you like NBC comedies. I like Scrubs myself...although not as much in recent years. I also understand that all network television has dropped at the expense of cable. But I'm going to start...

Well the Stanley Cup final game got an overnight high of 2.0 at 10:00. I know that some people watch each station -- NBC didn't get a 0.0 after all -- but decisions like putting on the NHL or overkilling Law and Order to the tune of over 60 hours a week on various outlets including USA and...

USA Today reported that NBC had the worst weekly ratings in at least 16 years here: http://www.usatoday.com/life/televis...67842887_x.htm Congrats to NBC who has week by week and year by year tried to make us forget Hill Street Blues, Cosby, Cheers and Seinfeld and apparently has succeeded...

    The Shield: Season Six

I don't understand why Corrine couldn't even try to call Vic. Shane said Vic wouldn't answer his call but that was because the idiot's name came up on Vic's caller ID. So Shane could have called from another phone or Corrine could have tried Vic's cell. Instead Corrine calls right to the barn...

    The Shield: Season Six

The bag store was priceless! I had no idea what the women were talking about but laughed the whole way. This episode was obviously used to introduce Diro Kesakhian into the mix here at the end of the season run. I'm not sure where this is all going but cannot wait to get there. A good...

    The Shield: Season Six

The intrigue to me in all this is how it will end for Vic. I didn't really think about it until Brian mentioned it but Ronnie could be Vic and/or Shane's downfall. He sides with Vic now but doesn't know that Vic killed a cop in episode 1 nor does he know how Lem really died. It may be a tug of...

    The Shield: Season Six

Watching this season, I'm reminded of the the old line about how copies are just not as sharp as originals. Shane has learned the "ways" of Vic and has emulated him right through offing a team member as a means of protecting himself. The greatness of this season has been Shane's apparent...
