I was wondering the difference between the two terms and specs? I understand that the contrast is important for the picture display, but not sure I know the difference between in the DYNAMIC contrast ratio v. contrast ration? Can someone share some insight? THANKS
I have a Pioneer SD-533hd5 rptv, which has a RGB input jack (15pin type). The manual states that it inputs 5 signals, R,G,B,H,and V, from digital tuners and "the like." It also states that shouldn't be use for pc or other devices. Could this input be some had used with DVI via an adaptor? Or...
My son and I have made a basic talkline for his school science fair. It consists of : 2 phone sets, 2 jacks, 26' of telephone cable, and various battery holders for AA batteries. We have been able to make it work fine, 6 volts (4 AA's) provides sound and voice but not best reception. 7.5...
THANKS Wayne I haven't made a purchase yet, but want to upgrade the current 16ga wire to 12 or 10 gauge. Is there a difference in Car audio and Home audio wire?
Hi everyone! I may be beating a dead horse, but is there an adverse/enhanced effect between twisted wire and side by side? (used for speaker wire) THANK for sharing the knowledge!
Budget would be same as if would go with sub 1st... $600.00 + shipping. I know if get pre/pro or receiver still have amps to purchase but working on one piece at a time. I'm in no hurry. I could just continue to save and hold out, that's why I need some help. THANKS for the help!
I am thinking about upgrading my ht receiver to possibly separates. Being new to ht (especially separates), I was thinking about starting with something preowned but versatile that could hold out for a few years till next upgrade. Current system: Kenwood vr606 (from a HTiB), the sub from same...
The receiver does have a sub pre out. However it still a matter of adapting it if at all possible. I've posted up a thread at hometheaterspot as suggested but still no response. Nothing from Bose direct either. I'm with Seth, he should just dish out some money for a differnt sub. THANKS YA'LL!
My brother has a lifestyle series 25 but wants to change out his receiver in order to get component video switching to his new tv set. Is it possible to integrate his bose speaker module to the receiver? It currently uses an 8 pin din type cable between the module and the media center that he...
I have a 53in. Pioneer rptv and I'm thinking of purchasing a new center channel speaker which weighs 23lbs. I was thinking of cutting a plank to match to top dimensions of the tv and then placing the new center channel. Would that be too much weight or will it even make a difference? I...
I have seen some HT speaker packages in which the mains and center have the same/about the same efficiency. Yet the rear surrounds will vary by up to 6db less. Would it be best to have speakers of the same efficiency rating all around? Thanks again for all the insight! Eddie
If I have two sets of speakers (differnt brand),each say they have the same power output but different sensitiviy. Which would be the better choice, the one with the higher sensitivity rating? Example: 100watts/8 Ohms/ 90db or 100watts/ 8Ohms/ 87db Thanks for the imput! Eddie
Will there be an audible difference if I were to use one for each such channl (left-main, center, right-main)? Being that they would have same output specs (wattage, etc.)? Or is it best to have the mains vary from the center? Thanks again for all the good feedback! Eddie
Is a speaker that is said to have dual purpose, center and LCR monitor, can it be used as front speakers? I'm not sure I understand LCR monitor. I tried to look it up in the glossary provided, however only the term monitor was defined. If I could get some clarity I would appreciate it...
Thanks for the input everyone! I'm making due for now, with catv box and dvd on top; and will find a rack by end of weekend to complete a/v install. THANKS AGAIN! Eddie
I just bought a 53" Pioneer rptv, however have not purchased a component rack yet. Is there any possiblity of damage to screen if place my components on top till I can find the right piece of furniture? I searched for other threads, but there weren't many responses to the same question...
I was asked about the model types I have for my equiptment. I have a Sony cd/dvd player dvp-ns400d and Kenwood a/v receiver vr606. The player has a 5.1ch decoder built in per manual and the receiver has 6ch input. Will that make a difference? Eddie
Thanks guys! Its the audio from the dvd-video that I having trouble with. So, I should connect the 5.1 outputs for sound? Does the optical or digital coax not work for that then? Eddie
I'm having trouble with the audio side of my dvd player. I have tried both the digital coaxial and optical outputs and connected them into my reciever but neither puts out sound. I've used the same cables with different sources to the same ports and they have worked fine. However when I go back...
I need some input on wireless technology for speakers. Is there any good technology? If so what brand? The reason I ask, is because I'm thinking of setting up a HT in the 2nd floor of a 3 story townhome and have no access to opposite wall (and want to avoid wire in lanes of traffic). Thanks...
Robert Thanks for the info and forgive my ignorance. Is it then possible to still set up the hdtv reciever and a pvr just to record the programming w/o hi-def? Eddie
I would like to know if it is possible to record a hdtv signal to a pvr? Also, is there a component that combines the hdtv satellite reciever with a pvr? I'd appreciate all the help and information. THANKS! Eddie
