Question regarding diffenent sound modes on a receiver....

I recently bought a Onkyo 510 home theater speaker package (4 speakers +sub) and have a question in regards to the different sound modes you can listen to through the receiver. I have a Pioneer VSX-711 receiver and since I installed the speakers I have been experimenting with the different sound...

How can I test old speakers to see if they are still good?

I apologize if this seems like a dumb question but I recently found a pair of Tannoy 6.5 PBM studio monitors that I purchased during the late 80's. I do not need them and would like to put them on EBAY and see how much I can get for them. Before I do that I want to test them and make sure they...

Need help hooking up a sub...

well I can't find my old receiver, I think my wife sold it at a garage sale last year. If I were to buy and amp to hook up the sub do I need a certain wattage or a certain amt of power from the amp? I see radio shack sells an RCA amp for $60, would this be sufficient for what I need it to do...

Need help hooking up a sub...

Brian, yes there is only speakerwire coming out of the back of the sub. If I understood you correctly I can hook up the speakerwire from the sub to an old receiver( I have an old pioneer receiver from the 80's somewhere in the basement that I think still works)and then run an RCA cable from that...

Need help hooking up a sub...

Thanks for the reply guys. The problem is the sub does not have any inputs or outputs on the back of it... just 2 wires coming out of the back to plug into the receiver. So I can wire any other speakers into the back of it. I guess I am looking for a way to connect those 2 wires to the sub...

Hello all, I am looking for a some help on this - a couple of weeks ago I purchased a 46” Sony KP46WT500 RPTV. I have it hooked up to a DVR cable box from Time Warner. I get the basic cable, digital cable, and showtime movie channels. I have noticed that when I am watching one of the showtime...

    Best Widescreen TV under 1600?

David, I just purchased the SOny 46" RPTV on Man's recommendation a couple of weeks ago and I am very happy with it. It's my first RPTV. Picture quality is excellent for dvd's and ditigal cable channels. The analog channels on cable are a little grainy but I think they are like that no matter...

Looking for advice - just bought an RPTV, should I go for the extended warranty?

Jack and Man, just wanted to let you know that I got the sony 46" and it is great, I like it much better than the jvc I orignally purchased. The picture quality is much better on the sony than the JVC. I also have a question on calibration. I have been looking through the forum and notice...

Looking for advice - just bought an RPTV, should I go for the extended warranty?

Well I went to Circuit City today and took Man's advice and got the Sony 46" widescreen. I was split on whether to get the 46" or 51" but ended up going with the 46" as it looked like it had a better picture than the 51". Did not go with the extended warranty which did not make the sales rep too...

Looking for advice - just bought an RPTV, should I go for the extended warranty?

Thanks for the advice Jack, I did call them this morning after reading what Man said and told them I wanted to return it and they said they would take it back no problem. They said to come out and pick out one I liked and they would deliver it and pick up the other one. Do you have any...

Looking for advice - just bought an RPTV, should I go for the extended warranty?

Man, I am beggining to wonder myself if I should consider returning the TV back to CC and getting another one. It would be a hassle but it might be worth it since I am concerned about the life of the TV. I am not sure if they would take it back though since it was an open box, I don't know if...

geez guys now you are scaring me about buying the demo model. I wish I would have found this board sooner and asked this question before I decided to buy a demo model. Looking for advice - just bought an RPTV, should I go for the extended warranty?

Thanks for the advice guys. I am going to get the extended warranty just to protect myself in case something happens to the tv. My reasoning for buying an open box was because you can save a good deal off the retail price. A friend of mine bought an open box Sony 57" and has had it for over 3...

Looking for advice - just bought an RPTV, should I go for the extended warranty?

This is my first time posting here. Yesterday I purchased a RPTV from Circuit City. I bought a 56" JVC - AV-WP30. It's an open box item I bought for $ 1350 and it retails for $1700 -$ 1800. I am not sure whether or not to get the extended warranty. The warranty breaks down to about $100 per...
