I personally look forward to my Kansas State Wildcats defending their Big 12 Championship. We've got a pretty good looking recruiting class, we'll see what they can do.
Sorry to jump in here, but I'm also looking at a similar Paradigm setup, and have a few questions. I've currently got my entry-level setup, a Sony DA1ES and a Onkyo SKS-HT500 (I think) speaker set. (5.1) It sounds pretty good to me, and since I'm in an apartment I can't even crank it up all...
So here's another question - if he's got a 7.1 setup (I'm thinking about doing the same), what happens when you play 5.1 SACD? Which speakers do the surrounds play out of - the sides or rear? (or both?)
I'm helping a coworker of mine buy a TV, and I'd like some opinions about Philips. The reason we're looking at Philips is that we get a discount through our work. He's looking at a 32 or 36 incher, possibly High-Def. Here are the models: 32" - 32RF82S 32" HD - 32PT830H 36" - 36RF82S 36" HD...
Nope, it is gone now, looks fine. I'd say just slide it back a little bit. They are supposed to be shielded, but evidently not very well. My discoloration came out of nowhere, and just left after I played around with it a bit. Strange. I don't know much about this problem, and how or why...
Funny you should mention that, I've had the same problem with mine. I've got the center sitting on my sony 36hs500, and one day I noticed some discoloration. I've had mine for probably 3 months, and that was the first time I had noticed anything. I moved it around and it eventually disappeared.
OK, I searched through the old threads to look for past experiences, but really didn't find what I need. Here's my situation: I've got a HT in my 1-br apartment. My display is a 36" Sony HD set that sits in the corner. Currently, when I watch a movie I turn off all the lights except for the...
Try avsforum.com. Hate to refer away from this board, but they have more info. I used some of their posts to adjust my 36HS500, fix red push, overscan, etc.. Search for Sony sevice menu or something like that. They probably won't have info for your exact model, but they are all just about the...
Cool, I'll have to see how much I can afford to spend, if I've got some extra maybe I'll get the Paradigm surrounds. I guess I could just try it out with the Onkyos for surrounds, and then upgrade if I think I need to.
I recently switched from digital cable to DirecTV, and I've noticed that I need to adjust my TV. HDTV via DVI in particular, I need to adjust the horizonal size. Channels such as Discovery HD and HDNET have logos that are badly cut-off on the bottom-right of the screen. I've also noticed that...
I am looking to upgrade my speakers, and would like some opinions. I just got my first HT a few months ago, using a Sony DA1ES and Onkyo HT500 speakers. The speakers sound fine, but I want better. I watch TV/movies a lot, and listen to music and play games a bit. I've got SACD, but there are...
I've been using Armor-All leather seat wipes, but I really don't like them. They make the seats really slick, and people in the back seat slide all over. I'll have to try Lexol or Maguires. (99 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited)
Well that didn't take long. I just caved in and ordered my first directv setup, the Samsung TS160. I got quite a deal from expertsatellite.com only $500 for the reciever and dish with installation. I'm really excited to get it set up, I will soon be watching bugs in HD. Buahahahaha... (cough...
Michael, you're lucky and I'm jealous. Colorado Springs is supposed to be a "tech" city, but the HD cable is coming slow as mole asses. Lew, I wouldn't have to keep the cable modem, except that I still want high-speed internet. I don't have a home phone line (cell only), so DSL wouldn't be...
I'm in the same boat. I've got digital cable through Adelphia. When I asked them about HDTV, they said they plan on having it by the end of the year. I also asked if they needed any testers, and they said they forwarded my name to thier techs. Anyone who was a tester for digital cable - how long...
Well, I finally tried switching the cables around to see if there was any difference. I used an audio cable for the front left, and a video cable for the front right. I couldn't tell any difference between the two. For now, I think I'll just leave my setup as it is, using the video cables for...
Daniel is talking about the NS755, the Sony DVD/SACD p-scan player. I've got it and I'm very happy with it. I had a Philips before, and the Sony is quite a bit better. The menus are very freindly, and it lets you experience SACD without breaking the bank. I'd recommend it if you're looking in...
This is a bit off the topic, but if an SACD is played on a 6.1 or 7.1 setup, are the rear speakers not used at all? Or would the reciever create the extra channels for that too? What do you guys prefer for the rear channels on a 6.1 or 7.1 setup - dipoles, etc.?
Ron- Cool, I'll have to ask you about those "garage sales" if I end up buying a house here. As it is, my little Onkyo sub provides more than enough bass in my apartment to annoy the neighbors. I bet if I had an SVS, I could make the fat lady that lives above me vibrate across her living room...
