The AVP9080 is a great unit. I think the issue I am having is a technical issue, not a design flaw. I don't have anything bad to say about the unit at all. However there are some things that I would like to see. More digital inputs, more component video inputs, decoding of all sound formats...
update- after fooling around some more I think I've narrowed the problem to the optical connection of the pre/pro. I get Dolby Digital sound from the optical connection ONLY when I turn off the pre/pro and source and then turn everything on again. Also if I switch sources once I have turned...
I am trying to run two separate Dolby Digital sources to the AVP-9080(DVD, Digital Cable). My problem is this: I cannot get sound from both sources when both are connected to the pre/pro. One component is hooked up via digital coaxial, and the other via optical. However, I can get Dolby...
Thanks for all the input everyone. I think I got it figured out. One more question. When does someone have to worry about doing damage to a subwoofer? I know this may be hard to answer. For example, say I have a small room that provides lots of gain. Thus my output on the receiver and...
Thanks for all the info guys. As far as my setup is concerned I have GR Research AV1+s for the Mains and Center speakers. I have B&W 602s2 in the rear. My subwoofer is a Stryke AV12 with 2 15" PRs in a 2 cubic ft enclosure. It is powered by a 350 watt plate amp. Like I mentioned before I am...
HI, I'm using the Sound snd Vision dvd to calibrate my system. I've calibrated all the speakers to 85db. I also have calibrated the sub to 85 db. It seems a little lacking though. Any hints?
Well the hum is gone! I found out that it was caused by the CATV connection! Now I just gotta fool around to get some signal flowing to the sub. Thanks for the help you guys!
Tom if you go with the JR twisted pair I'd be very interested in pics of your construction process, if you have the ability to post pics. I also am interested in making my own cables. I want to make the twisted pairs, but I am not quite sure of the constuction process. Best of luck. Keep us...
I just got a new subwoofer, but I need some help setting it up. It's a Stryke AV12 with 2 15" PRs and an AMP350 When I connect from my sub out on my receiver to the line in on the sub all I get is a hum throughout my system. It stays the same regardless of the volume or the source. Adjusting...
Hey guys, This link my give you guys some ideas on your designs. I think this is similar to what you guys are trying to do. Let us know how it turns out! http://gr-research.com/levitator.htm Chris
I have just recently gotten the network adapter. My problem is that my cable modem is in a different room than my ps2. Is there any way to use a wireless router to connect the ps2 or is my only choice to use a normal router and have wires running all over the place? Any soulution minimizing...
I was wondering how this feature works? I'm looking at getting a new reciever and am wondering if this is an essential feature. I plan on having my Playstation 2, DVD, and HDTV tuner all hooked up by their component video outputs.
Dan, Thanks for the info. With regards to the downward firing position could you tell me how much it will effect the output of the sub. Over the long haul will the effects be noticeable? Will the driver eventually "wear out"?
Thanks Craig Jack, I know you have alot of experience with PR enclosures. So in you opinion driver placement, whether foward or down firing shouldn't matter as long as it doesn't adversely effect the driver (AV12), correct? The most important thing is to have the PR's vertically mounted on...
This is a question to all you PR enclosure experts, or anyone who whats to chime in. I was wondering if there is a preferred configuration for the drivers and PR's. In my enclosure I will have 1 AV12 and 2 15" PR's. Is it OK to have the driver firing downward with the PR's on the vertical...
John, I have one of your thunder 12 enclosures(1 12" 2 15"PRs) with an internal vol. of 2.4 cu. ft. Its made of 2 layers of 3/4 inch MDF and measures 21x15x17.5 externally. I was wondering how you feel this new driver would work in this enclosure vs. your other drivers. Also what do you...
uhh..I'm new to all this so don't shoot me if this sounds absurd. Has anyone thought about or tried an adire Brahma for a home sub. Is this even a viable option?
