I think the older N26's do sound different than the new N26II's because of the fact that the new N26II's are in a wooden enclosure, rather than in a molded plastic like the previous N26's, which I think gives the new N26II's a deeper, richer sound... I did not think the N24's and N24II's...

Hi Tom.le, Welcome to the HT Forum... I would have to agree with this comment: "I would recommend getting a good set of bookshelf front speakers for your $200. Save some more and add the rest. A good pair of bookshelves can sound better than 5 cheap speakers." I have the JBL N-Series...
