i've never heard nor seen anything about this film before, but this trailer certainly looks interesting: 9: Trailer - Film Roster anyone know what those things are? or anything about the basic story?
so i'm sitting here in front of my tv, editing an essay for a friend, with Sniper on TBS in the background, and all of a sudden, JT Walsh walks on screen. and, equally as suddenly, i realize just how deeply i miss the guy. for real. the man was awesome each and every single minute he spent on...
ok, i just saw an advanced screening of the movie last night. after not being too thrilled about the first one, and after having been disappointed by almost every superhero movie so far, i went in assuming it would be another mediocre installment. well, holy. friggin'. crap. what an...
ok. i was just on the level where you have to follow the woman (sofia) as she enters a military compound. the game suggests using the WASP device to trail her to see where she goes; once you've done that, you have to catch up to her on foot. so i did what the game said and used the WASP and...
ok. i'm at the part at the beginning of POP where you meet up with farah in the main hall of the palace and fight some guards and the prince's father.... what the f@#k???? i've been doing this same fight over and over and over again for close to an hour-and-a-half and i'm about to put my foot...
ok. i am in the room in the train with the shelves and pedestal, and when i go to leave the room and walk to the front of the train, i can't - i leave the room, but then immediately when the next screen loads, i automatically turn around and walk back into the room i just left... am i missing...
here's the teaser... http://www.apple.com/trailers/artisa...nisher/teaser/ thomas jane's playing frank castle. i liked him in thursday and the deep blue sea. he might work. if there was any justice at all, garth ennis will write it. and it won't get an x-rating. - jd
does anyone know if the DIGITAL SPL meter from radio shack suffers from the same low-frequency inaccuracy as the analog one? and, if so, does anyone have the complete correction table? thanks, - jd
does anyone have any links to downloadable test-tones for calibrating and EQ'ing subs? i'm hoping for tones from 1-100hz in 1hz increments, but i'll take whatever i can get. thanks for the help. - jd
well, i got my B4 yesterday afternoon, and have been struggling to recover ever since i threw on some scenes from various bass-heavy movies before i had to run back to work. it's too early for me to give any particularly critical observations about the sub, but i can tell you that it's an...
well, just put the order in for the B4 Plus, Crown K1, Rane PE17 package. now the wait... i'm pretty pumped. if i survive my first set of test-DVD's the day i get it, i'll post my thoughts. - jd
how much do you have to be spending for dealers to allow a home audition of the equipment you're considering purchasing?
should they offer to allow you to listen to the stuff at home at a certain price-point?
when would it be forgiveable for a dealer not to let you listen to something at...
how far away from big speakers like the PMC MB2's do you have to be to get the best sound?
how close is too close to get a good sound?
the speaker is here :
http://www.pmcloudspeaker.com/mb1f.htm
my listening position is about 11 feet from the speakers; will that be enough?
thanks for...
if a speaker is flat down to, say, 20hz, and the same speaker is capable of doing 124db clean SPL, does that mean that the speaker can do 120db at 20hz?
i guess what i'm wondering is if an otherwise flat frequency response is degraded by increasing volume; and if so, at what volume? i mean, i...
anyone have any thoughts on this? i've done a search and i can't find any threads involving opinions on the quality of PMC speakers. at any rate, i suppose the real question may be whether or not full-range speakers (the MB2's are 20hz-20khz) plus a sub is preferable (for mostly HT) to...
i was wondering if anyone has compared the B&W N802 and HTM1 to the Aerial LR5 and CC5.
i live in Toronto, where the only Aerial dealer doesn't actually have the LR5 or CC5.
thanks,
- jd
if one were to use a 140wpc receiver as a pre/pro for much more powerful separate amps - say 400wpc - how does the volume control of the receiver work with those separates?
i mean, assume the volume goes from -60 to +20 at increments of 1db, what happens when you get to +20? won't there still...
ok. this is my chance. while there's very little choice of posts to which to respond, maybe people will be bored enough to throw a few opinions my way (they didn't before the crash...)
i have heard quite often, lately, that amplifiers that use global negative feedback sound worse than...
why do the people who think badly of amplifiers that use (global) negative feedback, think badly of it?
how audible are the effects, and what ARE the effects?
can any of the amplification engineering types around here shed a little light on this?
thanks.
ok. so what's the point of calibrating one's HT?
as far as i can determine from all of the posts that deal with the topic, the net benefit of calibration seems to consist in simply determining an objective decibel value for the numbers on your volume dial....
what i have a little more...
i have been given the impression from recent postings that not only are pre/pro's better than receivers, but they are much better.
what is it that makes them so much better? why, for instance, is something like the outlaw 950 so much superior to, say, the denon 5803?
could someone provide me with specific web-sites that have descriptions of the tests that demonstrate the (invariable?) non-directionality of sub-80hz frequencies?
i keep hearing about this as a particular sonic property of bass the existence of which has received "scientific proof"...
some questions:
1) what's the lowest frequency that will typically be sent to a speaker set to "small"?
2) how low does a speaker have to go before it is considered "full range"?
3) if, as i hear on this forum all the time, the best way to have speakers set is "small", whether or not...
i have seen the specification "power bandwidth" for amplifiers, and do not know :
1) what it measures, and
2) how important a measurement it is.
could someone help me? thanks.
i realize (assume?) that S/N is an important figure when judging amplifiers.
my question is this:
how much audible difference would there be between an amp with an S/N of -110db and one with an S/N of -124db?
