Which is better--2 big full range surrounds or 4 smaller surrounds?

I'll nibble on this one I would say that any speaker configuration you can dream up (within reason) that yields a 7.1 configuration, is the way to go. i.e. Speaking from a surround standpoint, I would take number of speakers versus quality of speakers.

    Digital cable not really digital?

Thanks dudes:emoji_thumbsup: You confirmed what I thought regarding the analog only box available to me. Now I'm wonderin if I can buy a better digital cable box (through ebay or somewhere) that does have the digital hookups? Satellite seems the way to go, digitally speaking atleast. I was...

    Digital cable not really digital?

Newb questions: My local cable company (Comcast) uses Motorola units that have no coaxial or optical outputs on the rear of the unit. It just has your traditional component input/outputs. Therefore, how can this be considered digital audio??? On the front of the units is the good ole Dolby...

More on S-Video & Component Cables

I read somewhere that S-Video is the same or virutally the same as component hook-ups. Is this true? Anyone., thanks.

Should I leave my amp turned on?

Just leave an amp on not an AV receiver Keep in mind kids , I think all this should apply for an amp that has minimal amount of circuitry compared to an AV reciever. I had an Onkyo 989 that I fried in 4 years, cause I left it on 90% of the time

    Which Definitive CLR?

I'll cast a vote for the 2300 over the 2002.:emoji_thumbsup: I have the 2300 and am very pleased. Keep in mind that I have never heard the 2002. I'm guessing with the bi-wiring and larger mids you will get a more pure and accurate sound. But I still think you will lose low frequency that you...

    Def Tech vs. Paradigm, MHO

Two words for you: BIPOLAR SOUND I have been sold on my Def Tech HT set up now for years, due to the wide, enveloping sound stage you recieve with this technology.;)

I have to Praise ---> Def Tech CLR2300 Center

Comparing the 2300 to the 2000 is probably tough. I think the 2000 is biwireable and has bigger midranges, then again, it doesnt have the built in sub. I never heard the 2000 so I cant really give an opinion. I have BP6s in the front, Paradigm sub1200 and Paradigm ADPs in the rear. I...

I have to Praise ---> Def Tech CLR2300 Center

I have had now for two weeks the Definitive Technology center speaker CLR 2300. Built in 8 inch sub. I highly recommend it or its bigger brother with the 10 inch sub. I had a Paradigm center before and going to the def tech with the built in sub is like night and day. You cant imagine how...

Get it fixed OR pitch it?????

I need your opinion guys. I have a 5 year old Onkyo TX-DS989. This was a flagship receiver back then. It doesnt have the 6.1/7.1 or DTS processing but it is THX certified. 100 watts to all 5 channels. The typical Onkyo DSP settings and remote. Problem: Its broke. Big time. No sound out...

    denon 3802 vs. 4802

I’m faced with the same dilemma Pat. I’m not an expert with hometheater, so the following is my rationalization to go with the 3802. With the 4802 you get the fancy Atkis remote so right off the bat there is #300 or so jump. I have heard more bad than good about the remote Alpha 24 (AL 24)...

    Denon AVR-4802

bump* I am looking at the same model. My ownly hesitation is the price of the thing. Its value is not that good, in comparison to the 3802. There is nearly a price difference of $1000 between the two. I think the price jump comes from the Atkis remote and the THX cert. Not sure if all...

    Online purchases

The debate over online purchases baffles me. I'm thinking of purchasing either a Yamaha RXV-3000 or the Denon 3802. If I go with reliableaudiovideo.com I will save my self a few hundred versus going with an authorized dealer. A quote from reliableaudiovideo.com quote...
