Hi Al, thanks...ive seen the various GR-Research speakers discussed around the net for years, seems they get mostly good reviews.

Stick the Eclipse in a good 3-4ft3 ported box and you will have a nice subwoofer that wont require a whole lot of power.

Ive used that Eclipse 12" driver before, well worth the money. Its a great budget driver.

Well IMO Toy Story in HD would still look alot better but I agree with everyone that TS2 is as good as the current DVD technology can look. BTW has Toy Story 1 or 2 ever been broacast in HD on one of the major networks yet? Now I am not so sure why they spend so much time on these Toy...

I watched both the new SE and UTB versions of Toy Story 2 last night. I definately heard the difference, well at least the sound level was higher on the new version's DTS track compared to the DD EX version on the UTB. My first impression of the SE's PQ was that it was softer but cleaner...

I suspect the new version is different but is it better, is it how it was intented to be viewed? "smokes" is a HUGE leap past different so as far as I am concerned the new version would have to either be the accurate version or the inaccurate version if the changes are so dramatic...

Until I see some A/B testing against the UTB then no way id every dip again on this movie. The UTB was in everyones list of the best DVD release ever when it came out. No way its better and the only way your going to see it is seeing screenshots of some very careful a/b testing.

Still not sure what I am gonna do...no doubt the SPL-1000 is a killer sounding subwoofer but I am not so sure I want to invest $500 in one. Say Mike, do you have some pics of that HGS15? Id love to see what one looks like.

I cannot say that surprises me, I am sure the HGS15 amp plays a pretty big role in making that driver sound good. Same goes for the SPL1000..id not be buying the driver if I did not have the amp that goes with it. You still have that HGS driver? there is an HGS amp on Ebay now.
