All right, just got the Irwin theater seats (right out of a theater under renovation!) and I'm pumped about putting them in. I'm going to do two rows, four seats in the back and three in the front for line of sight issues. I have 4 bass shakers, but I need advice on how and where to mount them...

Getting close to decision time. Looks like I've settled on drop ceiling tiles, but I plan to paint them with a light coat from a Wagner Power Painter to make them "disappear". The question is, what color? My walls will be burgundy, carpet pretty close. I have boxed out a duct that runs down the...
Great HT, Vance! Mine's about halfway done; sheetrock is up. Love the couch. I plan to go with theater seats all around, but can't beat the comfort of the couch. Thanks for the pics - they help when I'm standing in an open room trying to imagine the finished project!

Tell me what you folks think of this. I had an "epiphany" while walking through a craft shop.
Instead of Armstrong ceiling tiles, using the same Sound Board I used in my walls and covering them in fabric. A 4x8 sheet could be cut into 4 2x4 tiles for much less than decent ceiling tiles, they'd...
I can't imagine sound waves being affected by a piece of paper, especially after having to travel through 1/2" sheet rock and 1/2" sound board. Theoretically, it makes sense, but I'm confident it wouldn't have that much effect.
(Plus I'm not looking forward to ripping down those two layers!)...
Andy - it sure is...uh, oh...what did I do wrong? Any time I've ever used insulation, the kraft has faced towards the room to be insulated...

Good question - I was going to use a Wagner Power Painter to spray the tiles and tracks to match the walls (burgundy). Never thought about sound quality. Shouldn't affect it too much unless the paint went on real thick...

David, that is awesome! Have you thought about doing a complete website for it? Couple questions:
What is your ceiling composed of, and is it the same exact color as the walls? I'm doing a drop ceiling and may paint the tiles to match.
Is the candy counter in a separate room, like a lobby...
Great new forum: wanted to get some feedback on an old topic I had posted elsewhere. Sheet rock is up (click the logo below for pics) and I'm getting close to the curtain decision.
>Hiya folks. I was hoping someone could help me with this. Halfway through construction of a 14' x 12' dedicated...
Great stuff, guys. I just got four 15" 35mm film cans I plan to make into tables, one on top, one on bottom, oak dowel/post between. Picked them up on eBay for $7 each. Pics will be up when I get there, but I'm only on the sheetrock...

Tough weekend, but the sheet rock is up! New pics have been added (including a shot of the official apprentice, 3 yr old Zack).
Check out the latest picture with the "sparkles" in it. Thought it was dust on the lens, etc., but then I figured it out. I had just ripped up some insulation batts to...
Love the stage look, Brett. I think I'm going to incorporate one as well. Do you think a 1/4" luann or similar would bend well?
BTW, love the lawn chairs. That's what mine will look like when I run out of money... ;-)

I used it because of the ease compared to wood. Cut it with tin snips, screw it together, carry 10 studs at a time instead of 2. I'm gluing and screwing, layer of sound board followed by layer of 1/2" sheetrock, so I don't anticipate any reverb.
Although the website is done in a gaudy purple &...
I did the Sound Board because it was only about a buck more than sheet rock. Had planned on double sheetrock, but went with sound board. Heard good reviews from a contractor buddy about noise insulation. Should have the sheetrock up this weekend, so this double layer plus the R11 insulation...
About halfway through...the wife keeps acting disinterested, so I've banned her from the room until it's complete. She can't understand my "vision" so I'll just have to surprise her.
Appreciate any feedback/suggestions/criticisms on it - my three year old is the only one who's really seen it...
Hiya folks. I was hoping someone could help me with this. Halfway through construction of a 14' x 12' dedicated home theater, and I'm looking to run a curtain across the back wall. Back wall is 7+' long, which leaves about 4+' open to a 9' x 4.5' "lobby", which leads to the door out...
Any thoughts on this, along with possibly painting the tiles a very dark color to "disappear" when the lights go down? Has anyone ever done little pinholes or LEDs to simulate stars in the ceiling? Just some ideas I was thinking about while staring at my blank basement wall...
I was hoping to hear some thoughts on the "carpet" I've seen on HT walls. Can simple Home Depot basic carpet suffice? I'm halfway through construction, and I'm going to end up with sheetrock walls, thick slightly-textured paint, and two raised columns on each wall to minimize reflection, but if...
