Gregg just calibrated my Sony KD34XBR960 and while this set was amazing before, I just can't explain how much better it looks! If you've been on the fence about getting your tv professionally calibrated, do yourself a big favor and call Gregg ASAP!
I have a 2005 34XBR960 that is roughly 13 months old now. Picture has been great, I originally calibrated it with Avia when I got it and every few months I re-run the tests just in case. I always seem to settle on the same settings everytime, so at least my test results are consistent. Here's...
By chance, anyone in the Philly area (19425) in the coming months? I have a Sony 34XBR960 that's 1 year old and begging to be perfected. Thanks, and happy holidays!
Scott, thanks for the info. I checked and it looks like the HTM remotes use RF for RF-to-IR as well. So far I haven't found any manufacturers that use RF for directly controlling gear. I'm getting rid of this Dish Network receiver next year anyway, so I'll have to be sure not to get another...
The auto-switching works based on the audio input, so it looks for an audio signal to make it's decision. There is a manual button you can push to select an input if you want. You can also set some dip switches inside to fine-tune the auto-switching. I think there's a mention of having the unit...
I checked out the 890 but it seems to use RF in conjunction with its RF-to-IR box. So they're using RF as a means to control IR-based gear from any room, but no mention of controlling RF gear directly. I also checked out the support faq's and they mention controlling a Bose system based on...
Are there any remotes that support RF control? Not the IR-to-RF extender stuff, I need RF support for my DishNetwork HDTV receiver. It doesn't support IR control.
Picked up a 34" XBR960 and I love this thing! I am trying to do some initial calibration (not ready for the service menu) and having a hard time of it. I find the tube quality may actually be 'too' good for the Avia disk. I'll try to explain.. I previously has a Tosh 40" TheaterWide rear...
I've been holding-off on pulling the trigger on a Panny 50PX500U for months now. Luckily too cause the price drop a couple months ago was sweet. I gotta believe there will be some good deals coming up for black friday and the xmas season. Can anyone recommend a good, reputable online dealer...
I just sold my 5-year old Toshiba TW40X81 and now I'm reduced to watching a horrible 19". My original thought was to pick up a Panasonic 50" plasma this holiday season, figuring they would probably be on-sale or free shipping or something. But now I'm thinking about waiting until next spring...
59% contrast is exactly where Avia said it should be based on the tests. I ran the tests once a year, starting with all the levels at default and then adjusting from there and I always ended up within 1-2% of the settings I posted previously. I've since sold the tv but I would be interested in...
I adjusted the settings using Avia. This is what I ended up with: Contrast: 59 Brightness: 42 Color: 46 Tint: -4 Sharpness: 25 I should note, I bought the tv in June 2000, and the burn-in happened Sept. 2001, so it had a good number of hours to get acclimated. But again, with 9/11 and...
I got the Fox News logo burned-in on my Toshiba TW40X81 after 9/11, you remember how everyone was glued to their tv's at that time. I didn't notice it until I watched a hockey game a couple months later and the camera panned across the white ice and viola a yellow-ish grey burn-in. Shopping...
bump Suprised no one has opinions on HK 330's considering the war that erupted on the hardware forum over the dvd players. ;) This is my last post if no one follows up, then I'll let the thread die and take my chances on the HK.
gregD: I'm considering an SVS, but not sure which model because my room is about 4,000 cubic feet of volume plus it's open to the kitchen, etc. Working with the SVS engineers on that issue. I'm wondering what everyone's opinions are on this scenario: I'm looking at both the Marantz 6400 and...
That Bose article is great, I took a look at it the other day and scratched Bose off the list. ;) Right now I'm focused on the Gallo Diva's and looking for a sub. The SVS PB1-ISD is tempting, but I'm not sure if it will be big enough for my room. Does anyone have experience with this sub...
Has anyone paired the SVS PB1-ISD with small satellite speakers, ie. the Gallo Divas or the like? I'm curious how this sub would fit into the dual role of not only LFE but also filling in the low-mid range where the satellites drop off.
Auditioned the Gallo Nucleus, they are much better than the Bose 35, hands down. They didn't have the Diva's in stock but I think we are going in that direction. As for the Gallo sub, forget it, very weak. Salesman suggested doubling up on the Gallo subs, blah. Then we looked at the Martin...
Spent a few hours at the shop today to audition the Gallo Diva's and when I asked the salesman what he suggested I should drive them with his first option was the Rotel 1056, then the Marantz 7400 since it's $400 cheaper. I'm really relying on you folks because honestly I've been out of the...
I agree with everything you guys have said so far. I'm not particularly in love with the integrated amp/dvd player. The fact that it has no progressive out prompted me to pick up a Panasonic XP30. Even the component out is a hack through a firmware upgrade. So I was never planning on really...
We demo'd the Bose Lifestyle 35 package. The wife and I were pretty impressed. I was never a Bose-fan. My opinion was always: cheap upper-range speakers with a bad woofer to fill in the mids-bottom. But honestly, it sounded pretty good for movies and we loved the small jewel cubes. Any...
