I found some of this information sprinkled throughout the (very) long Bond Ultimate Edition thread. I wanted to post the question here to summarize ... Which original Bond Special Editions are worth keeping either because their picture/audio quality is noticably better than the Ultimate...
Doug, Thanks for the feedback. With respect to choosing which print to use for a DVD release, is there any sort of convention which is typically followed? Todd
Doug, do you know this for a fact. I know that there was some conjecture on this earlier in the thread but I thought it was just that, conjecture. If it is true, someone has some explaining to do. Todd
Sorry Jonathan. I noticed that version 3.0.1 was released over the weekend. You might want to try that (if you haven't already). If it still fails, I would log it into the Forums at Invelos. Todd
I got this last week also. It appears to be a security bug. While they have "done the right thing" security wise by moving the profiles to the users Documents and Settings folder, it appears that they are still writing some (work?) files to the program directory. I am running XP SP2 using a...
Sigh...
I really want to see this Series continued. Everything about the show (especially the first several seasons) is First Class. However, I want to watch it on my TV without having to jump through a lot of hoops like introducing a HTPC into the mix.
I am not familiar with either Digital...
I didn't have any problems playing the Lynch Cut or Deleted Scenes on my 3 year old Sony player either (although I have had problems with Universal's 18's in the past).
I received my Wild Bunch discs from Amazon yesterday. I didn't have time to watch the movie but I did want to make certain that I didn't have a problem with the Bonus Features disc. My 3 year old Sony DVD player had no problem loading the disc. The player went straight to the menu after...
There is an interesting thread going on over in the TV Software Forum that is discussing the problems many are having with Universals DVD-18 titles. This post suggested that one can use computer software (in this case, Nero) to pre-test a DVD for errors:
I thought that, given the problems...
I'm also interested in this. My experience is that I may have skipping/freezing problems on one player but not another. Typically, the one player that does NOT have problems is my PC. Will a DVD scanner catch an error that would cause my DVD player to skip/freeze but not by PC? I certainly...
I also experienced problems with the Columbo 3 disc (just 10 minutes from the end of the episode I was watching  ). I'm glad I ordered from Amazon. A quick phone call and a replacement is in the mail. I guess I'll have to run through every disc ASAP to make sure they all play correctly.
Unfortunately, my packing was also poorly assembled. It looks like they were attempting to provide a slot for the booklet. However, the person assembling it folded the front of the slot incorrectly (it was also bent). As a result, the piece of packaging that is supposed to hold the booklet in...
It's curious to me that there is such a strong difference of opinion on the quality of this release. Just about every review listed here. praise the new image for it's quality (given it's age) and state that it is an improvement from the prior one. Yet here we have others complaining about...
By now, you can probably detect a theme. Most store them alphabetically and then use software to quickly find what they are looking for (by genre, director, etc...). DVD Profiler is a great choice as you can see by all of the "My Collection" links in people's signatures. Todd
I believe that the DVD market has affected my movie going. I still enjoy going to our local theater (which still provides a pretty decent entertainment experience). Part of the problem for me is that studios depend so much on a film being an immediate hit. I can't count the number of movies...
Ah, but the DVD File review doesn't compare the new version with the earlier version. Mark's observation was that the newer version doesn't compare well with the previous version. Does anyone else have both versions to compare?
The two reviews I have read of this set indicate that the Superbit transfer is excellent. I love this movie. But I already have the previous Collector's edition. Can anyone who has seen both version comment on whether the transfer and extras are worth the double dip. TB
Haven't heard much about the supplements here. Since I already have the DD version, the only benefit of for the 2-disk would be the supplements. I'm not willing to pay for the 4-disk just for DTS. I've heard that the DTS, while noticeably better, isn't dramatically so. I have cancelled my...
