I just wanted to update this - the LCD panel is actually manufactured as 16x10, instead of 16x9 - this is what causes the vertically stretched images and there is no fix. Tony
A little update. I was able to fix the stretched image problem... the format select button being in "Automatic" was the problem. Once I set it to "Widescreen" the picture got a little wider, without any change in height. The width was enough to eliminate the overly stretched vertically image...
For anyone else with this set let me save you some time and relay what I have discovered: For ~450 bucks I wasn't expecting much from this 19" screen, but was surprised because it's not a bad TV, in fact it has a pretty decent picture (aside from the stretch issue) and the ATSC tuner does a...
Thanks for the help - the OTA receiver is built-in, and the DVD player I can switch back and forth between the various output formats and see the difference. I'm pretty certain it's an issue with the TV itself. After some fiddling around this morning I finally got into the service mode, but I...
Thanks for the suggestions. It doesn't appear to be in zoom mode - on a 16x9 HD picture I can cycle between "automatic" and "widescreen," with no change in vertical height or picture size and all the other format option are grayed out. On a 4x3 SD image I can cycle through several format...
This set was a bit of an impulse purchase when I was in Target last week. It’s an HDTV LCD for the kitchen, so it doesn’t need to be picture perfect, but nevertheless I’d like to have it close. The first one was returned two days later (last Friday) because the image in all sources was...
Whenever something has been in the works as long as Digital Video Essentials I’m a bit leery of any published dates. However. I see on this page http://videoessentials.com/dve.htm that it was going to be demoed at the Consumer Electronics Show in January, but I didn’t see any reports of it. Is...
The unaired "When You Wish Upon a Weinstein" details.... Synopsis: An inspirational visit from a successful Jew - who could be the answer to Peter's financial crisis - leads Peter to push Chris to go Jewish, so he too will be successful. Notes: Rumours abound that this episode was banned by...
I haven’t purchased a DTS CD in a couple of years (switched to SA discs). However, I was in Borders today and browsing through the music section when I saw a couple of DTS titles thrown in with the regular CDs. I’ve hear good things about the Lyle Lovell DTS CD, so I thought why not give it a...
FYI... my first stop this morning was to Wall-mart, based on the comments above I thought that would be a good idea... well, they didn’t have a display anywhere, and in the music section, I asked one of the salesman and got one of those “deer-in-the-headlight” looks in return. I leave, a bit...
Thanks for the all comments, I'm looking forward to it!
There is an interesting article on the newswire today regarding marketing tie-ins...

“It” means that they simply discontinued the disc, and never re-released them without the commentary track, as far as I know. I don’t remember the specifics (i.e. lawsuits), this was over 10-years ago, and my memory isn’t what it used to be. :) Maybe someone else can provide you with all the...
Cubby Broccoli objected to certain comments that were made on the "Dr. No" audio track, (personally, I don’t think he had any legal stand, but Criterion did it just to appease him; they probably felt they wouldn’t be allowed access to the remained of the Bond library if they fought him on this)...
Okay.
Could someone teach me how to use this feature. When I go to borders.com or bordersonline.com they both get re-directed to amazon, and I don't see anyway to check availability at a local Borders store.
TIA
I had this on my list as being released on April 2, but I stopped by two Best Buys and neither of them had it.
Anyone find this sitting on the shelves today?
Anyone have anything more current than what is posted at http://www.videoessentials.com/dve.htm ? That page hasn't been updated since December.
I hope they still plan on producing this disc!
The sub-titles are as quick as closed captioning... as a rule-of-thumb, with any kind of on-screen title, you should be able to read through them twice before they disappear... learned that in my days directing TV news!
When I stopped by Best Buy this morning they had a 4-sided standup display and a couple of end shelves full – there were probably 15-20 copies or so gone from the main display when I got there about 30 minutes after they opened.
I’ve noticed that they usually set up these larger displays the...
When I stopped by Best Buy this morning I didn’t see it on the shelves, I was really looking forward to seeing these again!
Anyone find it at Best Buy or Suncoast, etc. ?

I didn't see it when I stopped by Best Buy today. Anyone have it? How does it look/sound?

UPS just dropped it off 10 minutes ago... now I’m going to pop it in and see what it *really* sounds like! Too bad I don’t also have the original to compare it to... but I guess the laserdisc DTS version would make a nice side-by-side comparison! :)
46 days since I mailed mine, and still no disc.

If it doesn't show up in the mail tomorrow, I suggest we all let them our dissatisfaction in their (lack of) service.
