I'm having a hard time finding reviews to compare the two. Any thoughts? Primarily, I'm interested in best quality video and using Netflix. We watch lots of standard DVD's, so good upconverting is a must. So far my assertions are: BD85 is quieter than PS3 Slim BD85 has a pretty fancy...
I use standard closed-cell weatherstripping. Depending on the size of the woofer, determines the thickness and width I use. I have a large stash of various sizes at home in the workshop. The rubberized stuff is nice too, but it doesn't "squish" as easily. I've never had any problems sealing my...
Satellite, satellite, satellite!!! In my experience (Time Warner up in Milwaukee area), digital cable is horribly pixelized... I'm talking huge chunks the size of dimes regularly showing up on my 25" TV. Now I have a Mits 55" HDTV, and DirecTV. I will never go back to cable. I hate it. I do...
For $20 more, you can get the 5-disc changer... the F-85. I just picked one up at Circuit City this weekend. Be aware - they only have (1) player for sale in each store. Apparently Panasonic made a limited first article shipment. I know this because my old roommate was with me when I picked mine...
Ok - I'm now lowering the price to $150 + shipping - that's practically buy one get one free... any takers?
Again, please email me @: [email protected] for questions, concerns, or inquiries :)

Your problem is indeed that you don't have a digital audio output. There isn't even an RF output for an AC-3 bitstream. The 4 channels of audio are for special types of (usually educational) discs, called CLV discs. Typically...
It's hard to say if either will completely replace CDs. If either do, I'm sure it will take some time. And if they do, I would place my bets on DVD-A.
For one thing, DVD-A media is cheaper, but there aren't as many titles out as SACD. I have yet to determine which format sounds better as I...
Howard,
IMO, its a no brainer IF you're planning on budgeting some more money for upgrading your speakers at in the future. If you could set aside another ~$2000-$3000 for some new speakers in future, I'd definetly go with the Outlaw combo. Its just plain out-of-this-world!! Otherwise, waiting...

I really don't know why you would get anything other than the Outlaw 950 Preamp. It is available in Canada for shipping - you just need to put in your Province rather than state, etc, etc. The 950 is $900US. My ex-roommate bought one - UNBELIEVEABLE. As soon as I get a steady paycheck...
Hey there - I just bought a Sony 5 disc DVD changer. I'm not sure what the prefix model numbers are, but its something "...-650V". It plays SACD, DVD, CD, VCD, and SVCD - I was very happy to see it do wonders with some of my SVCDs! It does have multi-channel capability with SACD as well as...
Hi all - I bought a Sony DVP-NC650V DVD player a few weeks ago as an open box item at Best Buy... long story, but I ended up getting it for $170... I just couldn't pass it up. I'm wondering if anyone owners of this player could do me a huge favor and get me a copy of the manual somehow...
My cousin and I just purchased the Mits WS-55809 55" monitor. I'm sooooo excited. Hopefully it will be delivered early next week. I'll be sure to keep you posted. I'm making some orders for component cables as I type - I can't wait.
I just wanted to say thanks to all you guys (and girls) for...
Parts Express has a 250W class A/B plate sub amp on sale right now for $129. Even the regular price of $135 is a steal. The part # is: 300-794. Here's the link:

There are app notes to adjust the bass boost on the website.
Also, I have...
B&K 307 is the best receiver I know of. The new Pioneer flagship is certainly turning heads though - I'd look into that. My next recommendations for recievers would be the Denon 4802, and if you budget is smaller yet, the Denon 3802. I have never been very impressed with Onkyo. Yamahas have...
I'd like to echo Legairre's words. It's unfortunate that salesman feel the need to lie about things (or at least greatly embellish). I've got the Denon AVR2700. Simply phenominal. I've pushed it at near max volume (as high as would go without severely distorting) for as much as 8 hours...
Michael,
Yes, a Denon will be a night and day difference. BUT, you first must upgrade your speakers. This will be the greatest upgrade you can do. Trust me. I've never heard the Energy systems, but have heard great things about them - best of luck,
Just my humble opinion,
Scott
Hm... lemmethink. DENON.
I've got the 2700 - granted its out of date, but I love it. I'm sure you'd be happy with either the 1802 or the 2802. Both will blow away the "quality" of your Sony - no offense. Good luck in your searches.
Scott
Juan,
I've considered the Outlaw, but I'm not feeling very confident on their release date. They haven't had an update on the website since the beginning of August. I'm pretty concerned - though it does look to be a very nice unit.
(Correction: My roommate just informed me that he got a...
Hi all -
I've recently aquired the upgrade bug. I have a Denon AVR2700 with a Milenium DTS decoder. I've loved this system for well over two years now. The new formats are drawing me in, however.
I'm slightly confused on whether the Marantz has discrete DTS ES and DD EX or if it is a...
Check out this thread that was started a few days ago - I've made some long replys regarding Dolby Headphone. And yes, it is completey different than that Sony unit. Beleive you me, it is NOT worth any where near $500.

Actually, if you have a Fry's Electronics near you, then they still sell the Sony V6, as well as Djmart.com and I've seen it sometimes at Guitar Center as well...
Before you run out and buy some poly fill, is your sub a ported design or a sealed design. My bets are a ported design if its a LFE sub. If so, you want to avoid poly fill and use sheets of acoustic foam. The cheapest way to get "acoustic" foam is to go to kmart or walmart to the bedding...
I'd recommend the Denon DCM370 also. I have tried the Sony ES players and find them to be inferior (in sound quality) to the Denon, despite many other peoples' opinions that I received when I was buying. If you get this player (or any that you listed), I would recommed using the analog...
