How do I know when to adjust the settings on my DVD player and when to adjust them on the TV. I've calibrated my TV using Avia and it looks great but there are many settings (brightness, hue, etc...) in the DVD player. How does one know when to change those? Scott
Does anyone know the pros and cons of these speakers? It seems that the JBL Studio floor speakers are no longer carried by Best Buy and I really haven't ever like the sound of the Northridge series so I'm left with the two brands to ponder. I've spent some time listening to each within the store...
I have to agree with Oren in this case and I'd like to add some thoughts of my own... Personally, I love home theater and I love to learn about it but I found out long ago that my hobby is not necessarily everyone else's hobby. At first I tried to pass on what I knew to each customer but...
My local Best Buy just got in their Athena line and I must say, they sound really good compared to what else they carry. I'm in the market for some decent towers and it comes down the the Northridge JBLs (because the Studio towers are clearancing out), the new Klipch Synergy series they carry...
Wow, I've had that encounter here in Spokane, WA and a buddy of mine actually bought some in Seattle (Ooops). It's amazing how widespread this is. Scott
It's not cheap, but Best Buy in my area will do it for $499. I would assume they would also have this service where you live. A buddy of mine got it and the installers did a great job. The two guys spent about 5-1/2 hours at his house and even mounted all his speakers where he wanted them. I...
Well, whether I mess with it or not, the problem still needs to be fixed. The way I figure it, I can try and do it myself and avoid a service call or I can put it back how it was and use the service plan. I plan on making no major adjustments and I'll be as careful as possible. I see no such...
According to the service manual, the TV has a few built in test patterns. Should I use those or Avia's??? Gregg, you seem to think I shouldn't try this. Might I ask why? I know this sort of thing is not easy to fix but is there a chance of really messing things up? I can always just set it back...
I've messed around in the service menu a couple times to adjust a couple simple geometry problems. I think I know enough about grayscale to know that I probably shouldn't mess with it. Would it be the same as everything else?--I.E. write down the settings and I can always put them back... And...
I've recently noticed a dark red glow on my TV on the dark scenes when I watch DVDs. Usually, I only notice the problem when I get the room really dark but it's annoying enough for me to post a question on here about it. If the movie is wide-screen, I can see it in the black bars on the top and...
