Where I sit, there is a place to mount the speakers on the wall directly to the sides of me, or to the side of and behind me if I want. There is no place to mount the speakers directly behind me, for that, I would have to go with speaker stands.

I see, i thought the spikes were there just to keep the speaker from sliding lol. Well, then maybe that could be how it improves the sound of the speaker? It may be a stretch, but if the speaker can move because of the midbass speaker motion, then maybe it could lose some of its' "punch"...

Where do you find an Onkyo 805 for $600? At Onkyo's site, they list them for $1099. If I could find one for $600, i'd look at that very hard. Local circuit city (which carries Onkyo brand) doesnt even list them, the highest they have is the 606. Would appreciate any info. Thanks

I just found that my Monitor 9's come with "feet". The book says that using these feet can improve the sound of my speakers, becuase it isolates them from the floor. So, i'm guessing that keeping the speakers off the floor can help a little acoustically?

My mistake, the bass drivers for the CC290 and 390 are 6.5" and not 5.25", and the midrange are 4.5" and not 3.5" In the "new" monitor 9's, the bass and midrange drivers are all 6.5", and I think in the older style, the ones that I have, they are 7.25"
