Pertaining to SACD/hybrid placement, I think it would be nice for the format for hybrids to be amongst the regular CDs, at least for big releases. On the other hand, if the respective store only receives, say, 2 copies of one hybrid title, then they might as well keep it in the SACD section b/c...
Larry, David Tickle did the MCH mix for the entire DTS CD and for the first 12 tracks of the SACD (track listings are slightly different). However, the mixes are different in my opinion. On the DTS CD, the rears are more pronounced and the center vocal is weaker than the SACD version. I've...
Greg, The new SACD MCH is quite better than the DTS CD. It has more natural mix while the DTS CD is quite gimmicky in comparison. I've loved having the DTS CD--until now. I was really amazed by the stereo version on the SACD as well. It's a great disc and well worth picking up.
If I buy a remastered version, I sell the old one. Unless the upgrade is to a non-hybrid SACD or to DVD-A, in which case you have to keep the old CDs. The Who's Ultimate Collection is amazing and easily stomps the older "Who's Better, Who's Best" hits disc. But I can't sell the old one b/c the...
Speaking of the new Police SACD-The Classics, it's incredible! I am also in agreement on the Ryan Adams disc, it hasn't left my player either, nor has Beck's "Sea Change." Diana Krall's 2 discs are great too. Rachel, I think the other Ryan Adams disc (vinyl) you're talking about is...
To the initial point of this thread, may I say that the new Police-The Classics SACD is great, both in stereo and multichannel. The multichannel mix is much better than the mix on the DTS-CD. I do not own the redbook CD of The Classics, so I could not compare the regular CD layers. I own Every...
Just wondering if any of you out there has heard this new DVD-A. I was hoping to get some reviews on it; also, who has the best price for it? BB sells it for 22.99 and I was hoping to pay less. Thanks.
First off, I have neither a large nor widescreen display. I can, however, discern differences between the original and Superbit versions of the films released. Some seem to have a bigger difference than others. You can tell this especially between the 2 versions of "The Fifth Element" and "Bram...
I really enjoyed the DVD as I watched it last night. Great sound, and it definitely gets its job done in making me want the video collection due in December. I really enjoyed the live cut of "Please" even if it didn't have "Streets" following. I haven't listened to all of the CDs yet, so I can't...
I remember there was news that there would be SEs for at least the first 3, with "Batman" (1989) getting a 2-disc treatment, and they were supposed to be due 12/2001......of course this never happened and it's why I held off for a bit. I had previously purchased "Batman" and when the SEs didn't...
When LOTR came out a few months ago, I actually had a customer who asked for the fullscreen version. He proceeded to tell me that he had, in the past couple of months, purchased a 55" WS HDTV. He was furious because it was very rare when he could find "fullscreen" versions of the films he...
Good stuff guys, thanks. Dean, can you tell me which titles, pre-SPR, that had the full bitrate tracks? You've sparked my interest with that information, so now I have to hunt for these discs! Greg, I agree with what you've said. It is rather nice these days to find more DTS tracks available...
Brian L, Yes, definitely pick up "Empire" on DVD-A. Definitely one of the better discs of the format. You're right about the bass & drums, simply thunderous. Very impressive.
