That is really fun seeing that Paramount TV ad. I was lucky because both of my parents really liked it so it was just what they tuned in to often. For a while it was on twice in the afternoon, but on different channels. The first broadcast was an L.A. station, I believe channel 13, and that...
Here are two 1971 TV Guide ads for Star Trek in syndication. The first one is representational, but the second one appears to be confused with Lost in Space perhaps (and what is that emblem coming out of the K? Is that supposed to be the shape of the badge insignia?)
It is impressive that the...
I would pay $50 for a 4K of the Julie Andrews film STAR! - actually, I would pay $50 for an excellent blu-ray of that title. Unlikely, I know, given the current ownership of Fox titles.
What makes TMM even more puzzling is that the Overture and Exit are stereo on the VHS, laser and DVD. What happened between the DVD and the blu? Like you said, anything is possible.
I happened to drive by Walmart and could not resist stopping in to buy The Enterprise. And Samantha was on the impulse buy display by the register so I had to have her, too. I am definitely a 1960s kid.
That was even true in 1994 - when I saw it at a theater back then, a few friends and I were laughing when these two young men turned and said, "Stop laughing, it's a serious movie" or words to that effect. Which frankly made us laugh louder.
I just listened to the companion CD to Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil (film directed by Clint and featuring Johnny Mercer tunes) and I had forgotten that on that album Clint sings "Accentuate the Positive" and does a great job, too, IMO. His daughter also sings a few tunes on that...
I saw this on Facebook - from an April 1976 Alabama edition TV Guide. The Man Trap in syndication and Lincoln Enterprises advertising on the same page. Dang, brings back memories. And I like both The Champagne Murders and Deception, but I would definitely have chosen to watch Star Trek. Or I...
I would definitely follow such a thread, even though I would have very little to contribute.
I am loving hearing about everyone's experiences collecting copies of 2001, as much of it echoes my experience. Ah, those days when letterbox editions first started appearing. Fun times. I wish I still...
Wow! Was it the entire movie? How many reels? Was it pan and scan, anamorphic, letterbox? So curious! When I was a kid we had some movies on 8mm like Mary Poppins, but they ran something like 20 or 25 minutes, not the entire film.
Back in the 1970s channel 7 in Los Angeles had their 3:30 afternoon movie, and it was not even pan and scan. It was just the middle of the frame, no matter what. They showed Gypsy (1962) fairly often, and there is a scene in a restaurant where Rosalind Russell and Karl Malden are having a...
