You can get screen samples from most of the major vendors. I have the optoma H30 and the Dalite High Power. If you are planning on a pulldown screen then go with the High Power, it is the best at handling waves, which is a problem with any screens that are not fixed. If you are going with a...
Hi Guys,
Just finally getting back to my ignorant newbie thread where I confused everyone as much as myself:)
Not that I know much more now, but I do have info to hopefully clear up any confusion this thread may cause someone searching on an empty center issue:
1. Polk now verifies this...
check the Optoma H30 thread over at avsforum.com its not native 16:9 but they are releasing a lens cap that should bring the CR to 2500:1 and eliminate the light spill.
Thanks for the info Cameron, Actually my friend has a Sony LCD and the Samsung 931 and the differece is spectacular. I know a lot of that has to do with it being an all digital setup, and had read in some other posts of people not seeing the same difference when hooking this player up to RPTVs...
Thanks Michael, I didn't know it was for video only, thanks for that information. I will have to look up DCDI and get more info on that. So basically if all I am interested in is watching DVD movies, any of those tabletop RPTVs should fit the bill? Thanks again!
Hi All, There has been talk of this DVD player not making a big impact on RPTVs, especially those that upconvert 480p to 540p. I know this DVD player also supports an output of 720p and 1080i. Granted none of the lower cost RPTVs support 720p, but I thought they did support 1080i? Will they...
Hi All, I have been studying the forums for a few weeks now trying to purchase a set. I have basically decided to wait a few more years before going digital, but I am going to go ahead and buy a tabletop RPTV for now. I have decided to pass on the Toshiba and Hitachi since they upconvert to...
Thats a whole lot of discussion about burn. I just read through the thread. Anyways, I am looking at getting an RPTV, but I have a PS2 and games like Romance of the Three Kingdoms and Final Fantasy can sometimes leave me playing for 5 hours or more for weeks at a time. I am getting the idea...
I noticed all these LCD and DLP monitors at the store support 1080i, but have 1024x768 resolution, or close to that. Isn't the 1080i name from horizontal resolution (768 in the case of these monitors). Does that mean that these monitors take a 1080i signal and then downconvert it to 768...
Hi Glenn, Thanks for the response. I am sure you are right. I haven't really seen anyone else mention this. When I play the AVIA test disc with the white noise though, changing the LPF setting does seem to change the timbre or pitch or something with the sound. I have to set the LPF to 100 or...
The more I think about this, the more it looks like a design flaw in the Polk current speaker setup. Even their high end models only run the L and R speaker through the Sub. The main reason they recommend this is so they can control the LPF for those speakers. By not including the Center...
Just a note on this old thread. I now have my speakers set up as polk describes, but since the center does not run through the sub, and the HK-120 does not allow me to change the LPF on the center speaker, I am forced to match the LPF setting on my sub for the L and R speaker to the output of...
