The Maltese Falcon says hello.Someone should tell Warner Bros. this is how you celebrate a 100th Anniversary. Release stuff instead of repackaging what has already been released.
It didn't "revert." This appears to be a 4K only release. Kino only released it on Blu-ray. They did NOT get the 4K rights to this title (my impression is that they wanted them, but couldn't get them).Kino just release this last year, how did it revert back to Columbia that quick?

I'd take things a little further than that, Robert. I'd argue that all the WAC Blu-ray releases say hello. After all, Warner's MPI does the restorations for both WHV and WAC, and although they might have different restoration teams/budgets for either division, they are still only allowed to have just so much nitrate on the lot at any given time (of course, this only applies to films of a certain age). The Maltese Falcon says hello.
I'm not surprise by this 4K/UHD announcement.
Yup, I have the 2014, 2015 2020 and 2023 Blu-rays. Now, the 2024 4K/UHD will be added to collection in July.A quintuple dip - not even counting DVD! Curse you!!!
I think Gilda could be a part of the next Columbia Classic 4K boxset. It was a bigger hit than The Lady from Shanghai.I would have expected this in a Columbia Classics box rather than a standalone.
If you click on the Gilda link, it talks about that Cannes screening. There will be a screening of the newly restored "Gilda" at Cannes this week. I think a 4k is inevitable.
It does not leave Sony when it is licensed out to another label. If I remember correctly, Kino asked for UHD rights and was denied. This was probably in the cards all along with Sony.Kino just release this last year, how did it revert back to Columbia that quick?
I book marked it to read later. Thanks for the heads-up.If you click on the Gilda link, it talks about that Cannes screening.
What will be the next 4K UHD Blu Ray of a classic movie from Sony be? Very much looking forward to LFS on 4K Blu Ray.I'm not surprise by this 4K/UHD announcement.
