LG unveils US pricing and availability of 2022 sound bars

LG has announced its line-up of 2022 sound bars. All the new products can be ordered now from LG.com and nationwide dealers. The models include the flagship S95QR (810W, 9.1.5 channel, $1,799), S90QY (570W, 5.1.3 channel, $1,199) , S80QR/S80QY (480W, 3.1.3 channel, $899), S75Q (380W, 3.1.2 channel, $599) and S65Q (420W, 3.1 channel, $399).

The 9.1.5-channel S95QR includes five up-firing units plus an up-firing center. Three of these are on the sound bar itself and two are housed in separate rear speakers. The S90QY , S80QY and S80QR models also carry up-firing centers. While the top-of-the-range S95QR sports rear up-firers, too, the S90QY and S80QY can support optional SPQ8 two-channel rear speaker kits sold separately. Five of the six sound bars can reproduce Dolby Atmos and DTS:X sources, while all six have DV pass-through, HDMI 2.1 with VRR and ALLM, voice assistant capability and eARC.

The flagship LG S95QR has newly-developed drivers, speaker chambers and subwoofer. LG says it has upgraded the wireless rear speakers of its premium sound bar setup from four channels to six, promoting better rear sound distribution and placement flexibility. It also has an improved drop-free transmitter/receiver for boosted audio chops over greater distances.

All six models feature Meridian Audio tuning and in-built tech. In the music mode, Meridian Horizon up-mixes two channel stereo to immersive audio sound fields for wider coverage. LG says a new Wowcast (wideband audio on wireless) lossless multi-channel audio dongle (available separately) can make a wireless connection from a TV’s ARC/eARC port to the wi-fi enabled sound bars (S95QR, S90QY,S80QY, S80QR) for lossless 7.1.4 playback.
