LG has announced the rollout of its latest sound bar lineup for 2021 which promises “eco-conscious designs” and “high-quality audio” from partner Meridian Audio. The SP9YA (5.1.2-channel, $999), SP8YA (3.1.2-channel, $799), SP7Y (5.1-channel, $499), SPD7Y (3.1.2-channel, $399) and SP2 (2.1-channel, $179) will begin shipping this month, with further models due later in the year.
The higher-end LG SP9YA and SP8YA are compatible with Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, Siri and Apple AirPlay 2. Included on these two models is a new ‘Meridian Horizon’ technology which enables up-mixing of two stereo sources into multi-channel and immersive soundscapes. Along with the SPDY, the SP9YA and SP8YA support Dolby Atmos and DTS:X with onboard up-firing speakers, as well as HDMI eARC, USB playback and Bluetooth streaming. All three models feature 4K pass-through with Dolby Vision support.
