LG Eclair sound bar launches in U.S.

LG has announced the rollout of the compact LG Eclair sound bar (model QP5) available now for $599 at from LG and authorized resellers. The company says that despite the 11.7 x 2.4 x 4.9-inch small footprint of the Eclair, the product can deliver “powerful” immersive audio performance with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X onboard. Capable of reproducing 3.1.2 channels of audio, an included wireless subwoofer supports low vibration characteristics for neighbor-friendliness.

The Eclair sports an oval design with jersey fabric black or white color options, while the product combo (bar and sub) uses Meridian Audio tuning for better detail and spatiality. MA’s own Horizon tech also allows upmixing of two channel content into multi-channel sound fields. Furthermore, an adaptive ‘LG AI Sound Pro’ feature analyzes content being played and applies optimal sound settings based on genre. HDMI pass-through supports 4K images with HDR and Dolby Vision.

Cable-reducing enhanced audio return channel (eARC) support allows for lossless transmission of multi-channel audio on compatible TVs. 2021 LG TV owners can also benefit from clearer audio reproduction with TV Sound Mode Share, which combines LG’s α (Alpha) AI processing with AI Sound Pro “to reveal rich nuances of the content source”.

LG says that it has made a commitment to reduce environmental impact and its efforts have been recognized by the SGS Société Générale de Surveillance SA of Switzerland with the small form factor Eclair acknowledged as an esteemed ‘Eco-Product’.
