Advanced look at Thoroughly Modern Millie Blu-Ray

Re: Julie Andrews in "Thoroughly Modern Millie". I believe there is an out take on You tube of Andrews singing the theme from "Star Wars". Just saying. Words by Common I think.

Exactly. "Sunset Boulevard" in Los Angeles and New York had incredible sets including "the mansion" which moved stage left and right, backwards and forward, AND up and down. Touring versions, including the one with Petula Clark, had lots of drapes and curtains. "Phantom of the Opera" touring...

I liked everything Eileen Brennan did. From "Little Mary Sunshine" to Mrs. Molloy in "Dolly" to "Sergeant Benjamin", "At Long Last Love," to "Will and Grace". I think "Ribbons Down My Back" is one of the better songs from "Hello, Dolly".

I listen to "Night Music" almost as much as my favorite "Sunday in the Park With George". Especially when I'm feeling a bit glum, "Night Music" cheers me up.

Does anyone have an opinion (!) of the recorded CD of Bette Midler's "Hello Dolly"?

I think that was recorded. I'm pretty sure I have a CD of that production. Have to check. She was a wonderful stage performer. I saw her in "The King and I" Los Angeles Civic Light Opera.

We liked Sally Struthers as Dolly as well (Palm Springs). There was also an amateur college production in the gym in Santa Maria,California years ago that was HUGE and everyone was good, proving that the play itself makes it difficult to ruin.

In the Sixties, I was mostly attending the Village Theater in Claremont, California. I saw many foreign films and fell in love with a few of them including "8-1/2" (still a favorite), "Umbrellas of Cherbourg" (still a favorite), some Bergman, some Antonioni, more than I could name. I often...

It's a tragedy that Channing didn't get to make the "Hello, Dolly" film. I believe we saw every tour she did in this, plus her one-woman show, plus the one with Rita Moreno. One of many lost Hollywood chances to preserve and protect Broadway classics. I'll try to stay cool about what is coming...

I took a look at my old (2004) DVD of "The Happiest Millionaire" last night. "Road Show Restoration"!!!!! The box says 1:66:1. The picture looks like 1:85:1 inside of a 1:37:1 box, non-anamorphic, Window Boxed and Letter Boxed. It's a shame. It has some nice music. Not totally boring, at least...

Already pre-ordered. No doubt about it for me. Not too many years ago, we attended a benefit performance of Prokofiev's "Peter and the Wolf" with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the City of Hope Conference Hall in Duarte (California). Small venue. Large sound. The narrator was Dame Julie...

I don't know which screen was larger, but the experience of seeing "How the West Was Won" at the Warner Cinerama was an experience I will never forget. All those years later, seeing it at the Dome projected by the three projectors was like going home for a visit. I THINK I also saw it restored...

I saw "Thoroughly Modern Millie" at time of first release, probably first weekend, at Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood. It had a pre-show music, intermission, and exit music. It was beautiful. The aspect ratio was ---- big. All I remember. I loved it. It would be nice if a CD was issued...
