Lew, the goal of this challenge is to have seen 100 movies on the 1992 list by December 31, 2002. I'll be starting a new thread for the 2002 list at the beginning of January, so you might as well join that.

Or you can win Thi's Lost in Space DVD! I tried giving it away once among several DVD and VHS movies, but nobody took it. I was unsuccessful in selling it because it's a promo or the place had too many used copies already.

I've seen around 125 movies/series.
Instead of making the next one a challenge, I'm thinking of just turning it into a club. The goal will be to try to watch as many movies by 2012, the time of the next S&S list. We could then extend the list to those that received 2 votes so that more movies...
I don't mind starting the new thread and updating it. So, should we use Brian's list then? If so, where should the cutoff be? What about the amount of movies to complete this challenge? Deadline?

I saw Chungking Express for the third time on Saturday. There were a few things in the first act that I hadn't noticed before. Be sure to watch Fallen Angels, as it was supposed to be the third story in Chungking Express.

I highly doubt I will finish the challenge in time for the deadline. I'll eventually finish though, in a year or two.
Brook, which version of Greed do you have? Of all the movies I've seen on here, I think it's one of the best to end the challenge with.

Imitation of Life: This is probably my least favorite on the list. I like melodrama, but this movie was just over-the-top melodramatic. I recorded Written on the Wind earlier today, which I hope will be better.
Out of the Past: Very good noir with great dialogue.
I also saw Ashes and...
Doug, if you have TCM and some patience, they might re-air Once Upon a Time in the West soon. I believe it was last July/August when they showed it. I happened to watch a few seconds of it on AMC a few days ago, and it didn't look good at all in P&S.
Evan, have you seen Curse of the Cat...
I saw Greed, which was the 4-hour version.
I've been looking around the libaries around here to see if they carry any of these movies. It turns out that my university has many of them on VHS or VCD and some on laserdisc, but I'm not allowed to check them out. I wish I had known about them...
Brian, thanks for combining the two lists. I'm sure everyone appreciates the time and effort you put into it. Now other people can copy your list for other websites! :)

I'd also like to see the 100+ movies on the new list. It'll be interesting to see if Citizen Kane does get knocked off the top spot, though.
Evan, let me congratulate you ahead of time on becoming the first to complete the challenge, I think. I wish I had a library like yours from which to...
La Terra Trema--I wish I had paid better attention during the first half of the movie; there were some distractions in the house that forced me to lose my movie-viewing mentality. The use of non-actors didn't seem to be as effective in this as in other neorealist movies; the girl who adored the...
Silly guys! :) It's okay though, I've mistaken a few films for being on the list.
Jim, I would say it's because his life was empty and he realized how cruel he was to her.

La Notte--3 outta 4 stars
For about the first half of the film, it was difficult and tiresome to sit through. However, like two other Antonioni films I've seen, it started to become more interesting in the latter half. And after it was over, I slowly began to appreciate it more. I found this...
Open City--3 outta 4 stars
Germany Year Zero--3 outta 4 stars
I wasn't in the right mood to watch these movies. I'm pretty sure that I will consider them as being great if I were to see them again. Nonetheless, they were very powerful. I didn't realize these were part of a trilogy along with...
Tiffany, this is a challenge to watch 100 films on Sight & Sound's 100+ greatest films list. I'm not sure what the HTF 100 films exactly would be. There are many original HTF 100 lists; for example, the foreign one started by Gary Tooze in this area and dozens in the Polls area.

The Crowd--:star: :star: :star: :star: outta :star: :star: :star: :star:
Wes Anderson was probably inspired by this movie for The Royal Tennenbaums.

Trouble in Paradise--:star: :star: :star: :star: outta :star: :star: :star: :star:
I absolutely loved it! Looking forward to seeing To Be or Not to Be.

I saw Stalker today. I have gotten used to Tarkovsky's style so this movie was easier to watch than my first two Tarkovsky movies. It was slow at times, but I loved the visuals and found it to be cerebral. Did anyone think the main character resembled Woody Harrelson? It was a bit of a...
