Just curious, how does one go about saving that video. Do you need to use something like FireFox and a plugin to save it to a file, or is there another way.

Blu-ray Review HTF BLU-RAY REVIEW: Spartacus 50th Anniversary Edition

Andrew, I appreciate your well thought out reply. The reason why I think we might get a newly remastered release some day is because I honestly don't think the coprorate types in the studio's really have a clue as to what they are doing. Take "Pedator" for example, they get slammed for...

I think we all hope to get that some day. But for now that is not an option that is currently available (at least on BD).

Blu-ray Review HTF BLU-RAY REVIEW: Spartacus 50th Anniversary Edition

Nobody should buy what they consider poor quality merchandise. What denotes poor quality can many times be subjective or in degrees. So if you think it is poor quality then don't buy it. Obviously, those buying it disagree. I believe studios make basic cost vs return decisions. They don't...

Blu-ray Review HTF BLU-RAY REVIEW: Spartacus 50th Anniversary Edition

I also don't believe in the concept of not buying to send the studios a message works in this case. At least not in regards to the message you are trying to send. To me it looks like studios continue to go with the typical corporate "low risk" and "high profitability" route. Look at what...

And you have to be willing to live with the consequences. And the conseqiences in this case could be some films not coming out at all on BD at all. This is really not all that different then the movie on demand "MOD" concept in that many have argued that if you accept this approach then we...

Blu-ray Review HTF BLU-RAY REVIEW: Spartacus 50th Anniversary Edition

Sorry, but there are still plenty of DVD's produced each year that don't live up to the potential that DVD has to offer. Even 12+ years later, so 4 years for BD's is nothing. And it will continue. Hey we all have are areas of principle where it is our way or no way. And if there were any...

No argument there. But this is really no different then when DVD was touted over VHS. For the most part all DVDs could have been as good as the best that have ever been produced. In the end, it just didn't happen. So at times it does come down to what is good enough when it comes to a BD purchase.

Blu-ray Review HTF BLU-RAY REVIEW: Spartacus 50th Anniversary Edition

A VHS copy...give me a break. I finally got around to getting the BD and comparing it to my Criterion version. I had each in a player and went back and forth comparing the picture on a 92" screen, projecting from a Sony SXRD 1080p projector. Is the color different? Absolutely. Would I...

Sorry, I missinterpreted your intent. It's not that I am ignoring the faults, it's that I have to take in all the information to form a judgement on whether to purchase this release or not. I'm glad for all the details that have been presented (better to have more information then not...

Somehow I don't think you are dictating the purpose and value of this forum to all that use it. The forum is what those that use it make of it. For me, I do learn a lot from this forum, video presentation included, but if I took it all to heart I wouldn't be able to watch a good portion of what...

Blu-ray Review HTF BLU-RAY REVIEW: Spartacus 50th Anniversary Edition

I have absolutely no issue with RAH using his expertise to draw attention to the issues with this release. And I fully understand how it could have been better. In the end, it is all about degrees and perception of how bad or not so bad it really is to each individual. I'll go back to the...

Blu-ray Review HTF BLU-RAY REVIEW: Spartacus 50th Anniversary Edition

As I stated before, I can fully understand your criticism of this release. Based on your knowledge of the film and that this is your craft, I wouldn't expect you to pull any punches. As for myself, I develop software for a living. I can be very critical when I think software doesn't live up...

Blu-ray Review HTF BLU-RAY REVIEW: Spartacus 50th Anniversary Edition

What I have interpreted from many of the various bad reviews is that it has not lived up to the potential of what it could have been or what people would have hoped for based on the relevance of this title. Which is nice to note in a review but not what I would expect to impact the rating given...

Blu-ray Review HTF BLU-RAY REVIEW: Spartacus 50th Anniversary Edition

I guess I just view the way ratings should work differently. I don't feel that what could have been for a particular release comes into play (variable) because then it is too tied to that individual film and loses the ability to compare ratings across films. I think ratings should be based on a...
