Battlestar Galactica Season 3 (Oct 06)

Say huh? Of all the possible explanations for the song, that has to be the dumbest.

What are you, an uncultured heathen? Everyone's heard of Fred Astaire. Seriously though, Starbuck discussed her father with Helo in the second season episode where they visited her old apartment on Caprica.

Okay, so the Cylons were making humaniform models all the way back in the First Cylon War? And they're Bob Dylan fans? I'm having serious doubts about where this is all going.

Lee should've just repeated, "No further questions." I did like that Adama tried the same crap he did with Sgt. Hadrian's tribunal in season 1, but the other judges shot him down. Unfortunately it high-lights why Adama shouldn't be a judge to begin with -- he has too much involvement with the...

I for one am outraged that they're writing That Guy out of the show. That Guy has been a vital and integral part of the cast all the way back to the miniseries -- who can forget the scene when Tigh decides to decompress the flight pod to extinguish the fires and That Guy stands next to him...

Battlestar Galactica Season 3 (Oct 06)

That's it? All this build up about how this episode would contain a shocking death and change everything ... and that's it? As despicable as Kara's become, she deserved more than a pointless Tasha Yar death. And frankly, I don't see how everything's changed. The way Moore & co. have been...

Battlestar Galactica Season 3 (Oct 06)

BSG's structure is much closer to DS9, where all the major developments in the Dominion War took place in the first and last four episodes of each season, with maybe a major episode in the middle for sweeps. All the episodes in between were standalones with few signs that the Federation was in...

Battlestar Galactica Season 3 (Oct 06)

The episode was better than Espenson's first outing but it was far from good. Roslin reverts back to her season 1/early season 2 nutjob personality and Adama just goes along with it as she dismisses perfectly reasonable complaints out of hand, but then they back down and compromise in time for...

    Frackin' double post.

I don't buy that. He might trust Tigh more than Helo (though after the first part of this season, even that's like a stretch), but Helo served as his XO for something like a year. For Adama to dismiss his misgivings so quickly is out of character.

I think one thing against Gaeta being gay is the scene in the extended Pegasus where a Pegasus crewman brings over a data library and Gaeta asks, "Got any porn?" He didn't ask "Got any hot, man-on-man porn?"

Battlestar Galactica Season 3 (Oct 06)

Not really. The original Battlestar Galactica was loosely based on Mormon beliefs. And in the Mormon religion, the American Indians are actually a lost thirteenth tribe of Israel that left the promised land thousands of years before Christ, sailed across the ocean, and settled in the Americas.

First Billy and now Kat. I hope Anders, Helo, Doc and Gaeta know to keep their heads down, because the writers are gunning for all the likable characters.

You should hear my rants about how the Jedi were a bunch of tools who upheld the status quo by mediating trade disputes while turning a blind eye to the slave trade going on on the fringe of the Republic.

Battlestar Galactica Season 3 (Oct 06)

Say what? The suicide bombers may've been a new development, but the insurgency wasn't. It was quite clear in the season premiere that Tigh was being held for his anti-Cylon activities -- and I don't mean candlelight vigils and picket lines. Everything we've seen indicates that the Cylons did...

Yeah, humans start blowing stuff up until the Cylons have no choice but to react with equal brutality. I think it would've been a more interesting twist if the humans had gone through with the plan to infect the resurrection ship, but then it turned out the Cylon's were being overly cautious...

Battlestar Galactica Season 3 (Oct 06)

They could have Galactica reach Earth this season, but that wouldn't be the end of the series. No, the fleet would discover Earth has no defenses against interstellar attack, and Roslyn would decide to send advance scouts to the planet to help us bootstrap our technology to the required level...

My one big disappointment with this episode -- when Zarek was ranting about how he didn't want to give collaborators a chance to grandstand and drag their trial out with legal trickery, Adama or Laura should've pointed out that he was describing his own trial.

And keep in mind that's an 8k net loss that factors in births. The total number of deaths was probably much higher. But at least it looks like there were plenty of survivors from Pegasus -- look at how crowded the crew quarters are now compared to the first two seasons.

I think the bad ratings had more to do with the fact that the third season sucked. Earlier seasons had had the occasional clunker, but nowhere near as many and certainly nothing as bad as Spock's Brain, The Empath, or ...And the Children Shall Lead. Same thing happened when NBC resurrected...

Actually, TOS Baltar's plot went the other way around -- he started out (after the pilot) with the Cylons, and then was captured and held aboard Galactica.

Battlestar Galactica Season 3 (Oct 06)

The episode felt a bit rushed. What happened to all the NCPers who were with the execution squad? Killed, captured, escaped? Especially with Jammer, who played such a big role last week -- we saw him take off his mask, but he was still in uniform so he couldn't pretend to be a prisoner. And then...
