I think the bad ratings had more to do with the fact that the third season sucked. Earlier seasons had had the occasional clunker, but nowhere near as many and certainly nothing as bad as Spock's Brain, The Empath, or ...And the Children Shall Lead. Same thing happened when NBC resurrected...
