They can say "learning remote will always be current" all they want... I have a Home Theater Master(the B&K remote) that says otherwise...(granted that thing is ancient)
Find out information about what? The 1156 working instead of the 1117? For the AVR it will work. Are "all the buttons" going to be identical? No. Once "set-up" the 1156 remote will do volume/source etc...the set-up menu is what it "might not do". You'd have to find the manual for that Sony to...
The "newer" remote is a whole lot better... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Denon-RC-1156-Amplifier-Remote-AVR-3312CI-2112CI-3311CI-791-1911-DHT-59-/181061391273?pt=US_Remote_Controls&hash=item2a281993a9 I'm willing to bet the set-up works the same way...but you'd need to download the manual for...
A 790 for $90, lucky dog. What is "Deloute"? Don't feel bad, the 890 doesn't have pre-outs either... http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/DENAVR890/DENON-AVR-890-7.1-Channel-105W-A/V-1.3a-Receiver/1.html
Well, you can still return(or did you buy it used?) the 790 and look for an Onkyo SR706/707 or NR708/709. Those 4 model numbers will, almost by themselves...with no help from their "bigger brothers", outnumber 10:1 what you'll find with pre-outs COMBINED on the used market. And you only need 1...
The "lowest priced" AVR (every year) with pre-outs was the Onkyo S/R70x. Denon didn't have pre-outs for another $400(basically $1000+). Yamaha and Elite don't have them till roughly $850. The 790 was a $600avr.
You "need" the remote for initial set-up. I'd try to find a complete on for $200-ish first. The AVR591 is on A4L for around $230. The 7/891(there might have been an 890) are $400-ish which puts them used at $300. $150 + $40 for a remote to me says pass. I doubt he goes less than $125.
I thought by the X65 models, they all had HDMI audio...pass on that one. Look for Onkyo as well. Anything that is 60X and higher(604, 605, 674...804, 606, 707) SR vs NR(NR has networking) The first digit(6 or higher) always had HDMI audio starting at the X04 model year.
Did Directv change to digital coax? Wireless HDMI is "just that". There is a sender you connect to your "source"(in this case the AVR)...and voila...it works.
I missed that where you went from 373 to 363(I figured a double post typo...) I'd almost rather have the 363. It is enough for those speakers sure(SM are very efficient)...is it enough (feature wise) for you? But yeah..$75, get it...does it still have the remote? (if not there are remotes on...
Height/Width...look up... Dolby ProLogic IIz (found in "pretty much everything" once you hit a certain price. I think this year, even HK is going to jump on the IIz train) Audyssey DSX Yamaha Presence (Yamaha has decided to play nice, on some models, with DPL IIz. Yamaha came up with the idea...
That depends on your ears. The only "performance" difference is how much less power the 1700 chews off the wall. Besides, $200 can be spent as a stop-gap till you decide if you want/need neight/width, 2nd zone, pre-outs, ipod/ipad/droid support, HDMI standby passthrough or any of the other...
I will "somewhat" disagree with Jim here... Seating distance is like everything...everybody has an opinion.. I set up my main theatre based on a "split" of "double the height of 2.40:1" and 30 degrees off 16:9. In other words... I'm not close enough for 2.40:1...and too close for 16:9...but I'm...
He said (paraphrasing)... "What do I need to make my current AVR work in my situation...and do upscaling." He would need to purchase the DVDO and a BD player with 6/8 channel outputs... Those "cost" around $750-ish together. But, if he buys a new AVR instead of "making that one work"...he can...
Since my thread "DVDO + BD W/6 channel" was confusing... The DVDO is $450(depending on day, cause you know Amazon spins a Roullette wheel to decide prices every morning). A 6/8 channel BD player is at least $300(unless you buy used). That is $600(at least) you have to buy a new AVR. Lots of...
You can buy a new BD player for $80(panny, sony or LG). You can buy a used HDMI DVD player that scales to 1080P for $40(there is a Zenith "region free" all over Ebay for $40). I bought(lucked into it) a Pioneer DV 420V for $50 including shipping. If DVD is all you need scaled...you got it...
Well, you said "upscaling" and that is about the only thing "non-AVR" that there is. You would still need a BD player with 6 channel output to have your lossless... DVDO+BD w/6 channel=more than enough to replace the Elite... Will "that" mount buy another $1500 AVR? No, but do you need a $1500 AVR?
