Unless you count overture and intermission music (which I believe were missing from the previous Blu-ray of this film) as missing scenes, I think it’s Bishop’s Wife, which being a Goldwyn film, would be handled by Warner.
Isn’t this the film where Dick York suffered the back injury that ultimately necessitated his departure from Bewitched? Reading the synopsis, it sounds like a very interesting film and am looking forward to seeing it.
He certainly did, except this one is Medieval rather than biblical. I’ve been meaning to see this one as well, especially since reading that the depiction of the Muslims in this film was what allowed DeMille to shoot on location in Egypt when it came time to remake The Ten Commandments.
For some reason, unknown to me, I had it in my mind that this was a VistaVision film, but I guess that’s not the case. I have actually never seen this film so I guess this is a good opportunity to remedy that.
Can’t answer for the sound elements for the film as released, but I recall reading that the tapes for Bernstein’s score were irreparably damaged in a flood. Varese Sarabande accidentally stumbled upon them when they were actually searching for the tapes to his score for Hawaii, another film...
I recently picked up the Kritzerland CD of Alfred Newman’s score for this film (though I have yet to actually listen to it). Looking forward to seeing a good quality version of the film since all the reviews I’ve read suggest it’s very good.
I was wondering the same thing. I’m curious about The Bride Wore Black (especially with its Bernard Herrmann score) as I missed out on the TT, but will wait to see if they’re a box set or individual releases, the latter preferable for me as I’m not all that familiar with the other Truffaut...
Kino also said they weren’t interested in releasing Flower Drum Song, and that’s now in their pipeline, so I wouldn’t necessarily rule that film out just yet.
Neither for that matter did Ray Bradbury, who wrote Welles’ narration for the film. On that note, I never guessed it was Ray Milland doing Satan’s voice in the Temptation scene (I wonder if he was also supposed to appear onscreen as Satan was originally supposed to be seen as well as heard, at...
There are some who believe Bernstein’s Oscar for Millie was a makeup award for not giving him the Oscar the previous year for Hawaii (Born Free won that year). While his Millie score has some interesting moments like the Harold Lloyd-esque building scaling, it’s definitely inferior to his...
Yep, and all three are present on the DVD as well. However, the film version of the exit music is different from the album version, starting with Trinkt Le Chaim rather than Jazz Baby.
Just saw that Universal will be doing a new restoration of the Lon Chaney Hunchback of Notre Dame. Any chance Kino will release this at some point in the future through your deal with Universal.

As a side note, Jon Mirsalis (whose print...
Unless Kino strikes a deal with Warner, there is zero chance of Warner releasing The Naked Spur and whatever Mann films they own that are not on Blu-ray. That said, I do hope Kino can make a deal with whoever now owns the Weinstein Library so we can get remastered versions of El Cid and Fall of...
This announcement goes very well with the release of the late Ennio Morricone’s score by La La Land records today.

I don’t know if the original soundtrack album was a re-recording or not, but the original masters for the complete score are lost. From the press release of Quartet Records’ remastered release of the original soundtrack album from a few years ago:
Love Me Tonight is already confirmed to be coming from the first Universal deal, and from a 4K restoration to boot. As for Christmas Holiday, the KL Insider has confirmed that there are legal issues with that one preventing it from being released.
I seem to recall reading that Kino tried to license Millie in their first Universal deal, but were turned down. I wouldn’t be shocked if Shout ends up releasing the film using the 4K restoration that screened at Film Forum back in November.
I don’t think Universal will be licensing Psycho or...
The DVD of Millie had both Entr’Acte (which is basically a medley sung by Dame Julie) and Exit Music as well as Overture, so I would hope an eventual Blu-ray would include them.
As far as movie vs. play is concerned, my high school did a production of the Broadway play several years ago. While...
On the contrary, a majority of the tapes for this score are missing, as confirmed by Roger Feigelson (the head of Intrada Records) on the thread linked below, so it’s not due to lack of interest.

I’ve been rather curious about this Valentino film, although I could have sworn Cohen had picked up the rights to this one. I also suppose you were unable to include the Carl Davis score for this one.
