I still don’t know about Superman, but it was confirmed last year that Wall-E was a one-off between Disney and Criterion and seems unlikely we’ll get anymore in-house Disney films.

Very possible. While we’re still waiting, David Skal hinted at an announcement involving Tod Browning today which could very well be a Criterion set of three of his films which may at least include Freaks over on the Classic Horror Film Board...

I’m not sure I understand your designation “Fox Five” for those films since all but Lifeboat went to ABC (which has long been a Disney property) after Selznick’s death, so they were already with Disney before they bought Fox (and Lifeboat with it).

Posting this here since the film has for years been rumored to have gone back to Criterion. A new restoration of Hitchcock’s Spellbound will be premiering at this year’s Cannes Festival. Supposing Criterion did get the rights back as they did with Rebecca and Notorious, perhaps this is the...

Dazed and Confused 4K now listed for February 21st. https://www.criterion.com/films/314-dazed-and-confused Probably just Romeo and Juliet for me. A Blu-Ray of this version has been long overdue. It’s quite possibly my favorite movie version of the play with Olivia Hussey giving a strong...

One might also ask if there’s any credible information that they’re handling After Hours. I’ve seen multiple claims that Criterion are doing After Hours, but have yet to see any actual evidence of it. I also wouldn’t mind a new transfer of Amadeus, especially if it includes the Theatrical...

Their communication certainly is improved from what it used to be. Often in the past, we wouldn’t even hear that announcements would be delayed until the day was nearly over.

Anyone know what movie that photo is from? Based on the past few delayed announcements, it’s clearly from one of the films in this batch, but I just don’t recognize it.

The new Scott MacQueen restoration of The Devil and Daniel Webster will be premiering at the UCLA Festival of Preservation on May 20th with a “special thanks” to Janus Films. Interestingly, the new restoration is apparently three minutes longer than the DVD. The full restoration credits...

Summertime's page has been updated to include mention of a Blu-ray cover art by one Lauren Tamaki (as of this post, it still shows the old artwork), so I wouldn't necessarily rule it out yet. Edit: Just saw Lord Dalek's post, so never mind.

I’ve never seen Summertime, but if it’s part of the July batch (which seems quite likely after last month when they teased Tales of Hoffman), I’ll definitely give it a shot since it’s a David Lean film with Katharine Hepburn.

I’m not surprised, considering today is technically a holiday and I don’t think they make announcements on holidays.

Alex Cox has revealed that Criterion is working on a new edition of Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid expected for release some time this year. He mentions that Criterion might “pick a favorite” of the three cuts of the film, but doesn’t mention if the other two will be included...
