Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

For me, it depends on how much I like the show. Barnaby Jones has always been one of my holy grails, so I would have purchased it with syndicated cuts or not. I feel the same way about My Three Sons. Only some of the episodes are cut, so making the purchase is worth it for me. It is the only way...

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

B&W TV is as close to being dead as ever before. I think WB will sneak in a few more, like season 2 of the Eleventh Hour and Colt .45. If Shout! does not release any more of the Defenders, then they are most likely finished as well. Sad times are here.

Speaking of non-western Four Star series, Burke's Law/Amos Burke must be finished before anything else is released. It would sure make Jack P. and myself very happy!

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

I'm sorry for this post. I've been having problems with this site. I wanted to say that I'm all in and have already preordered this release. I really didn't believe this would happen. I've never seen an episode of this show, and am really looking forward to it. Bring on the remaining seasons...

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

I don't agree with your statement, but it may be a while before we see any more b&w TV released from WB. I think we will at lease see Colt .45 released eventually. They have released all their other westerns, so this one would not surprise me. If you are referring to the b&w detective shows...

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

Shout! has been doing me a favor by releasing these complete sets of shows I did not own prior. Before these shows were released by Shout!, they went out of print and were being sold for hundreds. Season three of I Spy was going for over $90. The Daniel Boone release is interesting because the...

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

I agree that B&W TV on DVD is all but dead for all of the studios except WB. I'm still looking forward to the rest of Lawman and Colt 45. I'm not holding my breath with the detective shows, but I still have hope. The last B&W shows I really want are Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Season 7 and the...

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

As long as WA keeps coming through with their westerns and hopefully whatever detective shows they can release, I'm fairly happy with the current B/W output. All that is left after that on my want list for B/W TV is whatever hasn't been released in R1 for Alfred Hitchcock and the rest of...

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

I've found Stoney Burke to be one of the best blind buys of a DVD series I've ever made. What I have viewed has been excellent.

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

Gary, You are one who got me interested in many programs that I never thought I would enjoy, especially westerns. You are also partially responsible in getting me interested in a show I never viewed before I joined this forum called "The Fugitive". I also started watching "Little House on the...

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

Because Real McCoys and Wyatt Earp are owned by SFM instead of WB, they only come as DVD-Rs.

I also received a DVD-R set of Gallant Men from WBA, and I don't think that one was ever pressed either. All other sets I have ordered directly from the sight had pressed discs.

I think this will come from WB if released, not Timeless.

I know which title you are talking about, and I feel the same way. For me, the unstalling of Burke's Law and One Step Beyond, along with releasing The Rebel and the WB detective series would satisfy my b/w TV want list.

I'm sure that you are referring to CBS, and I am not surprised. I've pretty much given up on them releasing anything b/w after Gunsmoke anyway. When it comes to new b/w releases, I don't think any more will be coming directly from CBS.

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

I would love for the original Johnny Cash theme song to be included, but I could do without as long as the episodes are complete and uncut.I'm excited for this release, which will be yet another series crossed off my want list. The only other unreleased western I want this badly is "The Loner".

That one hurts! Besides The Rebel, The Loner is the one unreleased western I'd really love to see. That's a shame.

The Rebel is one of the three b/w shows on my want list, along with Burke's Law and Sgt. Bilko. I hope all are released soon. I'm also enjoying what WB is putting out in b/w. I'm really looking forward to 77 Sunset Strip, whenever it is released.

Gary, Thanks for the good word about Bilko. There are many programs from the 50s that I have never seen, including O&H. If I was familiar with more of them, I would probably be more interested in that decade of shows.

Sgt. Bilko is the last 50s tv series I really want to own. Any others that are released will be icing on the cake for me.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm not aware of this show, but I'm giving it a blind buy by ordering Volume 1.

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

Since Bonanza is one of the most popular westerns of all time, there may be a chance that Shout/Timeless or some other studio can continue the releases, if CBS will license it out. If future releases will not be remastered to CBS standards, I'm okay with that.
