A Few Words About A few words about...™ My Fair Lady (Take Two) -- in Blu-ray

" I absolutely despise this trend of redoing shows that were classics." Oh, I don't know----just because a show is altered in a new production, doesn't mean the original ceases to exist. Look at "Show Boat"---an undoubted classic, but has there EVER been a more revised show than this? Every...

"I've always hated the ending of MFL. I'd be among those standing and applauding at that version of the ending." Ha, we talked about that earlier in this thread, didn't we.... In Shaw's mind, the story ended with Eliza marrying Freddy and the two of them opening a shop together. After a few...

A Few Words About A few words about...™ My Fair Lady (Take Two) -- in Blu-ray

My understanding is that a 4K scan (or screen display) captures/displays all the detail to be found a 70mm release print. I imagine 8K would capture all the detail of the original 65mm negative? If I'm totally wrong, perhaps someone could post the correct information!

Oh, it's a short book, but definitely worth a read, if you happen to come across a copy... Interesting artwork, on the paperback, done very much in the style popular at the time --- it has a distinct late 1960s/early 1970s look. I think the fellow in the painting looks at least a little like...

Wow, I had forgotten all about that book! I had a copy when I was a kid---I'm guessing it probably came from the Scholastic school book order. (The illustration on the cover of my paperback can be seen below.) I agree with your commendation of the book completely---from what I recall...

"This goes hand-in-glove with that discussion on the Pygmalion story we had in this thread a few pages back..." And the link you posted led me to this one: http://www.bartleby.com/138/6.html ---an epilogue by Shaw that I had never read before. And it completely answers all the questions...

Oh, that is sad news.... Anyone wanting to learn a bit more about the singer can read her book, I Could Have Sung All Night, co-written by Marni and Stephen Cole.

A Few Words About A few words about...™ My Fair Lady (Take Two) -- in Blu-ray

Yes, I do think that Higgin's mother would help Eliza out, if it was necessary. But Eliza's father, well... After all, he did basically tell her to stand on her own two feet and not come to him for anything, so I doubt he would be very helpful---plus, I doubt Eliza would ever want to ask him...

A Few Words About A few words about...™ My Fair Lady (Take Two) -- in Blu-ray

Interesting you should say that! I saw the film in the cinema a couple of months ago, and---though I've viewed this picture many times over the years---at that screening, for the first time ever, I wondered if that interpretation was correct. For me, the idea originated with the dialogue at...
