Having just sampled the print I’d DVR’d on TCM I can now see that no shadow was there (Russ Tamblyn’s magic cloak) to begin as I had thought there was based upon the restoration supplement I saw at MOMA. Perhaps it existed in the Cinerama version but it’s not there on the extremely dark/dirty...

Not sure about above however I’m a bit concerned the reviewer there has no mention of film grain appearance or lack there of on the blu.

Who is “they” and can you point me to where “they” state this? If the director didn’t want you to see any outlines/shimmer he could have simply cut and edited the scene without the shimmer but he didn’t. All I’m saying is look at the extra on the restoration and you will see what I am talking...

This is truly a remarkable accomplishment based upon the MOMA screening I saw. Cannot wait to show friends at home. There is one very slight issue where I thought the technology used was so well done it took away from one of the vintage hokey effects and should have remained as originally shown.
