Ok... troublesome to me. Anytime information is not there that has always been and meant to be, then that is harming the art. Truth is truth. It may not bother you, but that doesn't change the truth that the frames have been damaged.
I am going by capsaholic, where you can toggle back and forth and easily see all of the props, scenery, costumes, and parts of actors that have been erased.
Each frame of this classic is precious. They aren't doing restoration and preservation a service by ruining frames, details, and objects. 4K should be a format for those who want the film as it survives. Cleaned up, yes. But not harmed.
When it comes to film preservation, ALL frames are important. In another shot, part of Fritz's hand is missing. There isn't a good excuse for destroying art.
BTW, I was looking at the capsaholic caps. I am in disbelief that Universal actually messed Frankenstein up this badly with some awful scratch removal software. This is a crown jewel, and this should not be considered acceptable.
The Frankenstein screen caps look awful. Look at Maria's hand...dirt and scratch removal gone amok. Every shot is missing objects. This is so disappointing.
