    Gay-Friendly Blu-rays

I watched God's Own Country for the third time and it just seems to get better Saw it on blu-ray this time, looks beautiful. A couple cynical friends watched with me and they loved it.

Right, and the Radio Days scene is almost surprisingly compassionate for the period depicted

I confess I went through the same thing when James Franco, asked if he is gay, said "I almost wish I were" :)

Why are 'strong, dynamic female characters' so appealing to a lot of gay men? I have wondered about this for a long time. I like many of the movies on the lists, but I don't identify with the women, and I like men in movies as much as women. [PS, this is not a judgement, just a question ;) ]

I liked 'Free Fall' as well. Well made, intelligent, well acted, attractive actors (esp the blond guy). 'Pit Stop' was recommended here and I enjoyed it quite a lot, even if it's a bit frustrating (no spoilers). Handsome actors and an emotionally involving story. A little while back I posted...

I had seen most, but not all of the US version of QAF and it never appealed to me for some of the reasons you mention. Then several years ago I watched all of the UK version and found it much better: intelligently written, well acted, much more involving. It's been a while, but I recall that it...

    Gay-Friendly Blu-rays

I think this was true enough to be quite noticeable in many cases. Take the film noir "The Big Combo" (1955) in which two hitmen live (and evidently sleep) together, or "The Pawnbroker" in which a ruthless mob boss and one of his henchmen openly portrayed as gay. Non-lethal gays are usually...

    Gay-Friendly Blu-rays

Well, I think something can be obvious to some and still be subtle. But that may be a "sublte" distinction.... :) Ok good point about the screenwriter. Perhaps a gay writer would not want to use a characters homosexuality to reinforce a character's vilainy. Still I have always read their...

    Gay-Friendly Blu-rays

I always thought that they are seen as obviously gay, in a fairly subtle way (they are clearly seen by everyone as a couple). And it does bother me a bit that their sexuality is used to reinforce their "perversion" as "intellectual murderers".

Mysterious Skin was the rare movie I went to see twice in a theater, I thought it was that good. JGL was a revelation. I hadn't paid much attention to him on the sitcom. After this film I was an instant fan (50/50, 500 Days of Summer and Don Jon, highly recommended), He also sings (in French...

A couple of nights later, I took a recommendation from this thread for "PIT STOP" (2013). It's very quiet, understated and has a very 'real' feeling I can't really describe. Not exactly a love story, but the potential start of one, it concerns two lonely, unhappy (and very hot, I must say)...

Full review: http://notesonfilm1.com/2013/07/22/i-want-your-love-travis-mathews-usa-2012/ I just watched this minor, somewhat interesting gay-themed indie. Some may know that Mathews the director had made a short clip-size version that was sort of a teaser/trailer for the feature, a few years...

Thanks for the info: I did NOT realize Lord Gillingham was the same actor as in "Weekend". He should have seemed more familar since I've seen the film twice. Has anyone seen "L'Etranger du Lac" (The Stranger at the Lake)? I saw a DVD copy and it's worth a look. I imagine a blu-ray will be...
