Yes. Great shots and ads. I saw HOW THE WEST WAS WON at the Plaza in Melbourne as a kid. Have never forgotten that day, nor the days I saw BROTHERS GRIMM and THE GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD there. Wonderful cinema. Like the one in Sydney it was on a corner ( beside the Regent.)

Actually the Road Show cut runs 188 mins and the General Release version is 168 mins (or 160 mins, possibly with Pal speedup). Great that MGM have obviously done a new HD master. I hope it comes to Warner Archive on blu (but with the Road Show cut as an extra!)

As I mentioned earlier, they could do what Fox did with SOUTH PACIFIC and release a 2 disc edition with the General Release Version on Blu and the Roadshow Cut on SD to please everybody. If they are looking at this conversation, they may pick up on the idea that fans will buy the Road Show cut...

THE ALAMO was released on laserdisc in its uncut Roadshow length after a print was found (in Canada, I think). A Chinese-made dvd was released taken from this LD. I believe that the print used for the complete version was damaged and I recall seeing a collection for $ to restore it. RAINTREE...
