Cautiously optimistic after that first episode. Nothing flashy; it felt more grounded, and it definitely helps that the bulk of the Miami-characters are ancient history and barely warrant a mention. If they HAD to bring Jennifer Carpenter back, this was the right way to do it, even though we all...
Season 7 will always get huge love from me due to the Ray Stevenson-factor. But yeah, seasons 6 and 8 are utter trainwrecks (individual good things here and there in each notwithstanding).
Sudden thought I had:
Dexter has been up against Weller, Lithgow, and now Clancy Brown? What's next, "Dexter vs. The World Crime League?"
(Maybe Christopher Lloyd could reprise his role from I Am Not a Serial Killer.)
Also, (as mentioned above) it is the original showrunner returning here, so I'll go with "cautiously optimistic" for the moment.
I just concluded a series-rewatch at the end of summer, out of sheer coincidence. Miguel and Trinity still stand out as series highlights, but I found the Ice Truck...
"DEXTER: THE LEGEND OF DOAKES' GOLD"
It'll be ten episodes of Dexter just livin' quietly as a lumberjack.
No murders. No serial killers. Just Michael C. Hall lumberjackin'.
