PHE Press Release: Star Trek: The Motion Picture: Fully Restored Director's Edition (4k UHD) (Paramount+ Streaming)

The Final Frontier and Nemesis are the two Star Trek movies that I have no desire to see ever again. TMP has its issues, but there's more about it that I like than that I don't like. TVH I'm not wild about, but I don't have any great dislike of it.

PHE Press Release: Star Trek: The Motion Picture: Fully Restored Director's Edition (4k UHD) (Paramount+ Streaming)

I didn't bother pick up the current set. I figured it was likely that Paramount will, at some point, release SteelBooks, either individually or in sets, as they've done with the Indiana Jones films. If so, I'd be more inclined to just pick up the individual films that I want, and ignore the ones...

They mention a "VHD version" but not a Betamax version. Beta got no respect...

I like comedy when it has fun with the characters. I generally don't like comedy when it has fun at the expense of the characters. The humor in TVH straddles the line.

At least they weren't eating beans and farting...but, yeah, that was an awful scene. It's a toss-up whether this was the worst moment in ST5, or Uhura's fan dance, or Scotty hitting his head on the bulkhead. And I'm firm in my belief that David Warner was given the juicy role as Gorkon in The...

PHE Press Release: Star Trek: The Motion Picture: Fully Restored Director's Edition (4k UHD) (Paramount+ Streaming)

Since this is inevitable, for me it's: 1. The Wrath of Khan 2. The Undiscovered Country 3. The Motion Picture 4. The Search for Spock 5. Generations 6. The Voyage Home 5. The Final Frontier

I don't know if I agree with the latter comment. At least, I think the films vary greatly in terms of narrative quality. I do think the "even numbered thing" is just people's way of dismissing 1,5,7, and 9 while praising 2,4,6, and 8. But I really liked TMP and Insurrection, and dislike The...

PHE Press Release: Star Trek: The Motion Picture: Fully Restored Director's Edition (4k UHD) (Paramount+ Streaming)

I've always liked the film, better than most of the other films in the franchise. I still think the opening "Klingon attack" sequence is one of the best opening scenes in any movie (despite the relatively inept matting around the ships). The Director's Cut adds character material that does...
