Advanced look at Thoroughly Modern Millie Blu-Ray

Well, at least we now know that Robert Siegel has NOT posted in the Kino discussion thread on this site, and therefore he should not be surprised no one from Kino has responded. He posted on another site and that's where a couple of people took him on. I'm not sure WHY he won't post in the...

The Kino response is typical. They do not care. They clearly don't want to make any waves with Universal. If Universal said that to them up front, the obvious thing to have done would have been to check previous releases and TELL them it was stereo on the DVD - they could have taken it right...

As I said elsewhere, you posting in these thread will go nowhere. Post in the Kino Blu-ray discussion thread at the top of the page. NOT the new release thread, the discussion thread. Otherwise you're just yammering in the wind.

When IS it getting released. The guy who got the early copy here apparently got a REALLY early copy - just look at the date on the first post.

Bus and truck tours were always on the cheap, set-wise. Proper first national tours have full sets replicating the B'way version. While they may be slightly scaled down to fit various venues, first nationals usually play at least two weeks in every city and usually more than that. The only time...

I'm glad you know your timing is correct. Except that nothing was cut between the final preview and opening night. The show was locked a week earlier. Critics had already seen it. So, while you may have seen the final preview, all I'm telling you is that the following night the exact same show...

If you saw it the night before it opened, nothing was cut from what you saw, because the show was locked the previous week.

Well, gee, if it wasn't open to the public then it wasn't a cinema for the public. The Warner was the ONLY Cinerama theater in Los Angles. The Forum was used for dailies and editing the films. I'm the one person you don't want to try and educate about LA history :)

But the Warner had more height.

You bet it did - more height for sure.

It was the ONLY three-panel Cinerama cinema in Los Angeles right up until the Dome finally installed the side projectors around 2000 or thereabouts.

Yeah, reportedly - in people's imaginations. Show me an ad with a 70mm logo or print and I'll believe it - otherwise it's another load of hooey, I'm afraid. If the LA and NY roadshows weren't 70mm, I can pretty much guarantee you that it never played anywhere else in the US in 70mm. And, of...

Which film are you asking about? Anne Frank was in scope, Nuremberg (if that's the Judgement you're talking about) was 1.85.

So sorry I missed this thread yesterday - I could have had SUCH fun :) So much misinformation. First off, I will not take seriously the "friend" who somehow magically got an early copy of the Blu-ray for the simple reason that he thinks this film was in 1.66. Second, yes, the Warner on...
