It's easy enough to pop the Avatar Blu-ray into my player and watch the movie before seeing the second film. We've had plenty of advance warning. ;) I really don't want to sit through a synopsis of the first film at the beginning of a 3-hour and 10-minute-long sequel.

I just hope it gets a theatrical release. There is simply no way that films like these will have the same impact at home on first viewing as they would on a huge theater screen with a huge sound system.

I seriously doubt it. I don't believe for one minute that "I don't have the time" is the real reason Cameron hasn't facilitated the release of these two films.

I'm just very skeptical about these Avatar sequels. Firstly, as has been mentioned, it will have been over a DECADE since the original film when the first sequel is released. I think interest has waned. Secondly, they're dumping a lot of money into one basket with FIVE films in the oven. If...

I don't know if I'd equate the popularity of a theme park ride with people still caring about a film. Plus, don't most of the "big" rides at Disney have long lines anyway?

They've wrapped principal photography, which means there are probably still pickups to do, and then 5-200,000 years of post-production and CGI work. ;)
