I miss it!!! I miss the price cuts. I miss the BOGO sales. I miss the competitive dynamic spirit when two huge CE manufacturers were out doing themselves competing for our dollar. I miss the title announcements, even from Fox. I just miss it.

David, Thanks for your seating suggestion but our FR layout is such that to sit 7 feet from the screen would put our couch in the middle of the room...totally unacceptable. However, I do know what your talking about as I sit about the same distance from the screen in my HT room and that screen...

No....nothings wrong. My wife and I just finished an episode of Desperate Housewives and the PQ is in every sense HD like and very satisfying. Honest....

Personally, I don't think the delivery system is all that important as this inevitably changes over time. Economy and content are more important for me.

I don't think Blu-ray will ever have any appeal for the casual CE consumer the way SD DVD has. The MAGIC of SD DVD is that for just a few dollars you can buy an upconverting SD DVD player and achieve near HD quality on that new 1080P HDTV without having to replace that library of SD DVD titles...

Nothing and no one is ever "future proof." But, not to worry. If HDM is a success two or three years down the road you'll probably upgrade anyway to a player that costs a lot less and may have twice the features. Ohhhhh....I totally agree and quite frankly is the only reason I held onto my LD player and certain Laserdiscs. And the "bottom line" is that there is a bottom line on what I consider reasonable expenditures on HT equipment.....which loosly translates to what my SO is also willing to spend.;)

Honestly.....I have moved on. I'm quite happy with my Sammy 1400. As you know I'm more than happy with my Dish ViP 622 HD-DVR. However, I must admit, I find techno-geek discussions boring (half the time I don't know what their talking about) as well as "wish" lists for HD software kinda dull...

Had to have been a defective player. The A2 I bought in June '07 has never had a firmware update as I use it mostly as a upconverted player in the FR and it gets a lot of use. I did run a couple of HD-DVD titles through it with no problem.

Hmmmmmmm, my wife gets motion sickness problems even on large 480i moving images, but......... she's not Japanese.;)
