We keep comparing CAROUSEL's SD and the Blu-Ray as if the SD is correct. It is entirely possible that the SD was enhanced while the Blu is closer to being correct and true to the Deluxe Color scheme
Yes it will, when Peter Jackson was discussing this for Hobbit, we learned that our "older" digital Projectors (installed in 2001) could not be upgraded to that Frame rate. The rest of the "newer" digital projectors could be upgraded to show the higher frame rate but at a cost of around $2500...
I love the Todd-AO version and do think it is fresher. As for as the Kansas City number, it is the most different of all the filmed numbers. Along with the difference on the Gene Nelson dance mentioned above, they even have Charlotte Greenwood doing different dance steps in the background and...
Have fun. I was up until 3am this morning watching the collection and fell asleep during an 8:30 conference call this morning. Not sure if it was a beautiful morning or not.
Anxious to hear your thoughts on this and Carousel. I was a little more disappointed in the Carousel transfer than The King And I. But they all look and sound eons better than the DVDs.
Carousel does seem dark but with a (and I can not believe I'm saying this) push with the brightness control it looks better. But the film has that Deluxe blue tinge I know that it is the look of the deluxe color films of the era,and I'm fine with it. It still looks good and the DTS-HD 4.0 sound...
Haha. I played Billis in High School and the guy that was cast as Stewpot also quit. He thought it was too much like a dumb football jock, which he actually was.
Sorry I got this confused with the Anna and the King pilot. The State Fair pilot is not on the Blu-ray. As I remember it was on the second DVD with the 62 version.
The Samuel Goldwyn Presents is on the beginning of the 35mm CinemaScope version but not on the Todd-AO version. I am disappointed that the Overture, Entr'acte and Exit Music is not a blank screen as Fox has been doing on their Blu releases, it has the same Overture, etc. font as was on the LD...
I use prime after a long discussion on a thread with Ron E several years ago. I usually get deliveries day before or day of release. Not sure if that makes a difference.
Hammerstein had passed in 1960 so there would be no involvement. Also Fox was bleeding money trying to make CLEOPATRA at the time and had no interest nor funds to make the film. They also were in the midst of remaking STATE FAIR, which was supposed to be a big Todd-AO production but lack of...
I don't think there will be any new extras added for this release, I feel that a majority of the extras from the DVDs will be included. The will not be the 1962 version of STATE FAIR and several of the extras from THE SOUND OF MUSIC will not make it but that may be just the two special TV shows...
I just got this in an email. Your Amazon.com order of "The Rodgers & Hammerstein..." has shipped!I tried to up load a picture of the email but it giving me a failed to up load notice. Also in the same package is THE WIND AND THE LION and Frances the Talking Mule Collection.
We'll one thing that excites me is Amazon has not changed the release date nor sent an email stating a change. Usually if a title is not going to make their date they would have notified the pre-orders by now. I will assume the title is in their warehouse now. Hope I did not just jinx this.
