The main advantage of 4K over 1080p isn't resolution, it's the addition of HDR and better colour. Currently, the only difference between 4K and 8K is more pixels.
The chances of there being an 8K disc format are pretty much zero. There's no 8K film and television content, nor is there likely to be any in the near future. And the only existing content that could even slightly benefit from 8K is a few dozen films shot in 65mm and IMAX.
Laserdisc was an analog format - at least the video portion was - so it wouldn't have been pixelization, as such, and wouldn't have had error correction.
