I’ve never seen this one, so I’m looking forward to it. Leconte is one of the best and most underrated modern directors. His Girl on the Bridge is one of my favourite films.
And the differences between PG and R were often arbitrary. The Fog was rated R while Invasion of the Body Snatchers was PG, even though Body Snatchers is both gorier and has nudity.
Amazon.ca is pretty spotty when it comes to Kino titles. Conquest, Five Graves to Cairo, Gotcha, Havana, The Art of Love, The Ghost Breakers, Death on the Nile and the other Poirot films - they're all either unavailable or only available via third party sellers.
For it's original North American release, the film was dubbed into "American," as the distributor AIP thought audiences wouldn't be able to understand the thick Australian accents.
How about another Michael Caine espionage thriller, The Fourth Protocol? It's not available on blu-ray anywhere and never even saw a North American DVD release.

He was a bit cagey, but I got the impression it wan't a Warner exec, but someone who they wanted to please, maybe a major producer or star. Anyway, who knows what the real truth of the matter is.
I saw a screening of The Devils with Guillermo del Toro speaking about it, and he said that someone with pull at Warner Bros. hates the film and does't want it released.
