DVD Review HTF REVIEW: Serenity (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)

Not just a planet name - she was aware of the deaths of a billion people on that planet. If that's not a film worthy epic plot point I don't know what is.

DVD Review HTF REVIEW: Serenity (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)

The opening "dream sequence", which gave an entire history of that planetary system, was an easy introduction to the film's universe. Heck, even the tv series never provided that kind of synopsis. Then came that amazing 6 minute long steadycam sequence where it was conveyed that there's a...

Yuck, I am just imagining Tom Cruise as Mal and a score done in John Williams pomp style, and Matrix kung fu hyper fighting... These would not have made a better film. Is there a place for lower budget science fiction, where characters and story come first? I think there is. Though as has...

DVD Review HTF REVIEW: Serenity (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)

I agre, that's exactly what that criticism means. Listened to the commentary track last night and it was interesting to hear about the noir elements of Mal's character. I didn't realize how much scifi borrows from that genre (but as a Blade Runner fan I should have). I'd suggest that...

Interesting dialogue stylings can throw people. Look at David Mamet - some absolutely hate his style, some groove on it. Some hate the expression "groove on it". It's nothing to worry about. More worrysome to me is people who watch movies while being signed online. Put yer feet up and make some...

If the dialogue makes you cringe, then no, you won't enjoy it. Whedon's signature style of writing is definately part of the major attraction. Or in your case unattraction. No shame in not liking everything, though.

DVD Review HTF REVIEW: Serenity (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)

Not that anyone here would ever consider getting the so-called Full Screen version of Serenity, but if you are curious about how the Full Screen version was framed, The Dark Shape has posted screen caps comparing the two versions over at serenitymovie.org (click here) (SPOILERS) I'm...

Is everyone's Galactica ad the same (inside Serenity)? I got the "Player/Pawn" one with Six and Baltar. Great ad campaign btw.

DVD Review HTF REVIEW: Serenity (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)

The sound quality of Serenity when collapsed from 5.1 to stereo still sounds great btw! I dont have a surround system hooked up right now and some dvds just sound terrible collapsed. But Serenity impressed! About the Full Screen copies (full screen for people with old tv sets that is), are...

The WalMart near me (no options in this town; I'm sorry to have had to shop there - it looked like a dingy version of a Target) appeared to have no "widescreen" copies of Serenity either. Several racks in the New Release section had stickers indicating they'd once held widescreen copies of...

DVD Review HTF REVIEW: Serenity (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)

Joss Whedon said there won't be another cut of the film, so if there is any double dip it would be limited (one can surmise) to including the Australian exclusives. For now I'll do my part to support the franchise by buying both the US and the Australian release.
