I wouldn't have a problem with it if they were planning to have the ceremony in August when it looks like vaccines will be wide spread, I'm not convinced they will be available enough by April.
The Academy stupidly plans to have the Oscars be an in person ceremony.

I hope CA blocks this plan.
And I just went to the Landmark and they had a sign up saying that they couldn't open because the county positivity rate was too high. And this was supposed to be opening day.
Just in from Regal, same as I previously said Deadline was reporting.
"In line with our previously announced strategy, Regal is temporarily suspending operations at the remainder of our theatres in New York State and California until the public health and operational environment allows for the...
AMC is getting kickbacks from Universal movies (The Croods) that go to streaming shortly after opening in theaters. Regal won't play those movies. The local Landmark that I mentioned does have The Croods on their coming soon page.
I haven't heard anything official, but my local Landmark owned theater now has coming attractions listed. They had none a few days ago. Maybe they didn't open earlier because they didn't think they could compete with Regal in this environment. Now they won't have to.
Regal is shutting down all their remaining NY and Ca theaters. 2 of the 3 open theaters in my area were those theaters. The only remaining open theater in my area is an independent dine in theater which keeps minimum house lights on during the movies so the waiters can see where they are...
If theaters nationwide are as sparsely populated as they are in my area that is why there have been no documented cases of covid spread in theaters. People are seated way more than 6 feet apart from each other.
My friend and I were the only two people at the Apollo 13 Fathom Event. It was a fun time and the presentation was fine once I reported to the ushers that the house lights were still on. Before the movie started they played a recent interview with Jim Lovell.
I just bought my first tickets since the pandemic for Tenet on Sunday. The online ticketing system still doesn't make sense. It doesn't let you buy multiple tickets with space between them in the same order. So I had to place two orders one for me and one for my friend who doesn't quarantine...
Still no announcement of schedules for any of the 3 non-regal cinemas in my area (Albany NY) but two of the three theaters had their owners mentioned in a Deadline article so they will probably be opened.
Quality is definitely better in inside theaters, but drive-ins this year enabled me to safely get out of the house and have a good time watching good movies.
especially since the drive-ins near me which have been operating since the 50's charge $11 per person for a double or triple feature and the concessions are much cheaper than the local regals.
So one Spielberg directed horror film and one rumored to be Spielberg directed horror film. I heard about that Long Island drive-in. The $70 concessions fee is ridiculous.
Sometime between Tuesday and Saturday they dropped Friday the 13th but I still had a good time tonight with Halloween and A Nightmare on Elm Street. Halloween was an actual DVD (The menu came up after the movie finished. A Nightmare on Elm Street looked better.
This goes more to my other recent post where the ticket split should be better. During the pandemic theaters shouldn't be forced to be a concessions company. Didn't I hear that in China concessions would be banned? They give a lot less to the studios than theaters in the US do and business is...
Not selling concessions would make it easier to have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to masking. If the audience has nothing to eat there is no valid reason for them to remove their masks at any point they are in the theater. That should help reduce possible exposure to the virus. Who...
