There were 13 of them in Season 6 and in Season 7. They were so unpopular that Universal abandoned the concept. It was due to Angela Lansbury wanting to cut back her appearances on the show and when Season 8 rolled around, they went back to having Angela appearing in every episode, once again...

The only thing I hated were those "bookend" episodes, where Lansbury narrated the episodes but someone else solved the mystery. Glad they only lasted for two seasons.

Best Buy stores (YMMV) finally got in the reissued season sets (standard DVD case) of Season1 1 and Season 2 for $10. From what I know, only the first five season sets have been reissued as individual sets.
