Disney+ The Beatles: Get Back exclusively on Disney+

I guess that's it and I essentially answered my own question but I had always figured that she had pitched in an idea or a "Hey, that's pretty good" every now rather than being nearly silent for the entire time they recorded.

I get that John and Yoko were in love and just had to be near each other but honestly, I found it odd that she was there and almost never spoke. It's respectful of the band that she didn't decide she was now a member and tried to start contributing but it just made me wonder why she even came...

I have to say that a wonderful outcome of this documentary is that I've heard a substantial increase in Billy Preston songs on The Beatles channel on Sirius XM.

I don't recall it but that movie has a different thing going on where I'm amazed by how good the WWI footage looked. Everyone has seen people from 50 years ago on film but from 100 years ago, it's kind of startling to see people's faces and connect to them in a way that you never have before.

Yeah, other people have been called the fifth Beatle but for Let It Be, that slot was definitely filled by Billy Preston in my mind. Not to discount the contributions of the band proper but I think Billy Preston's playing is why LIB is my favorite Beatles record they made post-Sgt. Pepper's.

I'm not big on remixing music or movies to modern standards but the Atmos and DTS 5.1 mixes of the songs all sound good and Across The Universe sounds flatout amazing. I'm glad to have heard this set before Get Back next week. Sorry for back to back posts.

I just got a chance to listen to the LIB deluxe set and it's fantastic. It's not as packed as some of the other deluxe editions but what's there is great. Let It Be would probably be my pick as The Beatles' finest song (and easily one of the best songs ever made) and the alternate takes on it...

I'm a weirdo but that's one of my least favorite albums from The Beatles. Obviously, it's not bad but I don't care for Come Together and I don't like Maxwell's Silver Hammer at all. I love Octopus's Garden and the medley songs on side two are great though. Two songs shouldn't derail the album...

Well, now I gotta know what you think it is. I'm assuming that you're going to say something from Revolver forward and all of those albums are varying degrees of great so it's not like I'm not going to post "The white album?! ARE YOU CRAZY??????!!!!!!!!!!!" when I see your pick.

As much as I want to see the documentary, this is what really matters to me. The second best album that The Beatles did so I'm happy to finally get some news on the box set for it.

Agreed. It might not be fair of me to say this but I think that Let It Be was put together in a way to highlight the tabloid-y/gossip-y elements of the recording of the album and it ended up becoming the absolute document of that time.

Obviously, plans can obviously change but when this was first announced, they said that Let It Be would getting a home video release alongside Get Back. I think the apparent happier take of Get Back could make everyone legally involved more inclined to allow Let It Be to get released again since...

That's a bummer to me as well. Granted, the trade-off is that the movie is now 2 to 3 times longer than it could be in a theater.

Disney has distribution rights to Get Back but I think any other answers to your questions would be guesses. My guesses are that ownership of everything still lies with The Beatles/their families but Disney has some window of exclusivity for the documentary (since they spent money to distribute...

So I guess there's either an abridged version for theatrical release or, far more likely, it's not getting a theatrical release now? And pure speculation but if they were planning on including this in the Let It Be 50th (51st) anniversary set, I assume this release means the box is delayed...
