I know that Empire was very successful with audiences and critics but at the time of release, you'd be hard-pressed to find that many people saying that they liked the second movie more than the first.

It's not like the mainstream audience or kids HATED Empire but the first movie was the one that most preferred. It took at least a decade for the "Empire is the best Star Wars movie" thing to happen.

I'm not gonna go crazy arguing the point but I prefer Star Wars because it is just pure entertainment and fun. With the original, there's no cliffhanger and no plan for nine or twelve sequels or prequels. George was just making a kids movie and he pulled it off under difficult circumstances...

Oh yeah, I've got a handful of old Star Wars fanzines from the time between Empire and Jedi and that movie went over like a lead balloon with a lot of people.

I've assumed that same thing for a decade but I don't think anyone (outside of LFL or Disney) can say it definitively.

I'd say that's possible but it seems to me like he's trying to 'fix' the scene when he just doesn't have the footage to do it. Now he's using a zoomed-in existing shot of Greedo and they needed some dialogue to lay over it so they add a Huttese word over it to cover the new shot.

I've probably said it before but I think the worst part of it is that the word doesn't match the rest of the dialogue since they were recorded 35 years apart.

To me, the colors are much closer to the 80's and 90's home video presentations (which is what I consider to be the correct way the movie should look since I saw it a million times as a kid) than the 2011 Blu-rays.
